The Bad Batch: Aftermath [1x01] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Hello there! This reaction is one (of a few) in my "Try Before You Buy" reaction videos here on Patreon. For the TV series that I react to, I typically give the first episode out for free so you can experience it with me and see if you're up for joining us to continue! You must have your own copy of the episodes to watchalong as I do blur the episodes and have the audio muted. I leave around 30-60 seconds of it up at the start of each episode for syncing purposes. I am not allowed to distribute the entire episodes in my videos as this is illegal. Thank you for watching along with me!

Hey everyone! I am so sorry that these Bad Batch reactions are coming out so late in the week (relative to my schedule). As you will see at the end of this video, I had some audio issues that came up in this reaction and I have no idea why. Thankfully this didn't happen on Episode 2 (which will be shared soon), but Ep 2 was a much shorter video so that might be why. Hopefully I can figure this out as I had no indication whatsoever that the audio got messed up while I was recording. Perhaps this was just a fluke and a one-off weird thing. 🤞

Anyway! YAY, new animated Star Wars show! This episode had me SO excited the entire time I was watching and sadly I couldn't get a usable screenshot of myself for the thumbnail where I was laughing or smiling big (it's hard to grab stills of myself that aren't blurry, but I try my best. And I'm not a reactor who poses for my thumbnails with some kind of expression on my face). [Direct link here.]

Can't wait to hear what you all think about this episode and this reaction. As always, comment away! Please accept my apologies again that this is coming out so late, technically Monday for some of you. 😓

Nice! That will be good to watch through this before S2!

And we’re back! So yeah, the animation is a lot better than CW. In the the early seasons of CW the technology wasn’t great and it progressively got better as computers and graphics got better over the years. This will be my 2nd time through this show. The story in this season is really good and it’s relevant to understanding some whys we all had between ROTS and ANH. I don’t want to give anything away. Looking forward to the refresher before season 2 comes out.

Perfect, sounds good! And oh man that's wild to think about their age like that cause they don't seem that age at all.

If I remember correctly, Rebels takes place about 15 years after Order 66, so there shouldn't be an issue watching Bad Batch S2 at the same time as Rebels. In Attack of the Clones, when Obi-Wan was given a tour at the cloning facilities, it was explained that the clones had accelerated growth to make them combat ready in 10 years (except for Boba Fett). So, the Bad Batch members would physically speaking be in their 50's in the Rebels time period.

Totally agree to your last sentence. So good! Excited to watch more and glad you're excited too!

I LOVE THE BAD BATCH!!! In their Show, in Clone Wars they were fine, but HEAR!!! With Omega they are legendary!!! AZ is the same droid that Fives worked with during the Conspiracy ARC. I think you noticed that Nala-se is the same Kaminoan from the Conspiracy ARC as well. The one who drugged FIVES and also helped the Bad Batch Escape. I still hate Nala-se because of what she did to Fives, but it is interesting that she seems to care about Omega more than any other clone. Fun fact, in the opening of this episode, the Re-cap was actually a few scenes straight out of Revenge of the Sith re-made in the Clone Wars Animation! And Palp’s speech was straight out of the movie as well. There is also a reason why Caleb’s voice was so deep, like why they chose Freddy for it, but I won’t spoil anything. I am very excited to see you watch more of this and Rebels. The other shows too but the Animated ones just hit different! Except Resistance, it’s ok😅. It is really funny though how you keep getting hit with more and more stuff that happens DURING Revenge of the Sith😂. I personally always love seeing more things from different perspectives of Order 66 and just Revenge of the Sith Events, in my opinion it is THE most pivotal moment in all of STAR WARS.

Oh okay, that makes sense to me now. Thank you! I also hope they use this animation in the future because it is SO good.

kaiielle

Ahh yeah that makes sense. And very interested that Vader still commanded some of them!

kaiielle

Yeah, I'm excited to get to know Caleb later on. 😊

You asked about what Echo's place is in terms of the group as a whole. I think the best way to describe him would be R2 in human form but not as ruthless lmao. His arm allows him to do the things R2 (droids in general to be honest) would normally do though if R2 was apart of the mission, it's pretty cool. Also yes the animation is gorgeous in this series, there are some shots of the sky in later episodes that could be borderline realistic. They're absolutely incredible. I really hope Disney and Lucas continue to use this animation on other projects. It's too good to not be used more. Hoping Tales of the Jedi is the start of it!!

Volume

For the Empire, Clones were phased out fairly quick to make room for conscription soldiers at greater numbers and cheaper cost, but obviously not as effective as the clones, hence why in OT those darn stormtroopers just cant aim for their lives. By the time of Ep. 4, there were only a handful of clones still being used in the army, mostly spread throughout battalions and squadrons of mostly recruited bodies. I know in legends at least Vader still commanded the 501st (Rex's group with the blue color scheme) and he specifically wanted them to still be all clones, and it was renamed to Vader's Fist, but unsure if all or at least some of it is still canon.

This show got my hooked sooo quick with the first episode, that hour absolutely flew by! Seeing Caleb was HUGE for us die hard fans lol, can’t spoil anything but that was a very pleasant surprise. Definitely my favourite episode of the series, not to say the rest of it isn’t good of course (:

Sean H

Cool, thank you! And good to know about Caleb. Going to assume he's in Rebels then. 🤣

Nice, i was looking forward to this ! It is indeed a trilogy of episodes that was put together as a special for the launch of the show. The quality is out of this world, both on the animation and writing. The speech from Palpatine is word for word from Revenge of the Sith. The Jedi Padawan Celeb is one of the prequel elements you're not gonna feel as much because you do the shows chronologically. It is fine, just so you know it was a big moment for us to see him there. Omega is an interesting character, her VA is from New Zealand. I won't say much more because that is one of the main plot of this show but i grew to adore her. Tech issues are weird sometimes, glad it was only at the end. As for the timeline question regarding Rebels, s2 of Bad Batch will be placed before as well. I don't think that should stop you from starting Rebels if you choose to of course. Have an awesome week, cheers !
