The Bad Batch: Entombed [2x05] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Yeah, good point. Not sure if this will get expanded on or not.

A few things... I agree, this episode feels way more disconnected from the whole story than any other, not a bad episode, but from my point of view, a missed opportunity when it comes to worldbuilding. Remember recently we talked about how we would love to explore other time periods in the Star Wars universe? Well, when they started talking about that whole structure being pre-republic, I got excited that, maybe, we would get at least a hint of information about such an ancient time period, but no, other than a very vague mention about "The ancients", we didn't get anything. At least to me, it felt like a very ancient but very vague civilisation build the mech and we are not going to get more aswers. Intrigue, but without a payoff. Maybe I am wrong, and there will be a connection down the line, more of a broader explanation or a deeper mystery, but for now it didn't feel like that. On another note, the Heart of the Mountain is another name for the Arkenstone in the Hobbit. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Nice theories!

A lot of people seem to not love this episode, but I actually like it. Mostly because of how cool and scary that Mech was. And the implications of it! I have a theory as to where it may have come from but it’s a spoiler🤫. But I really enjoy the whole Batch going on an adventure together, that’s always a blast! Fee is an interesting Pirate, she isn’t Quite as Ruthless or as funny as Hondo but she IS Great with Kids just like Hondo and Katonni😅! I did find it interesting that that World Destroyer Mech was buried in a mountain, with a Crystal keeping it powered down. To me that implies that the crystal and the Mech are possibly from two separate creators. The Mech could be from some ancient Empire but someone made a signal blocker type thing with the crystal and turned the thing off. But they didn’t destroy it? And it was kept hidden with Puzzles guarding it? I’m SO CURIOUS 🧐 yet concerned😧

Thanks!

Very good insight here. I agree with you that it would be nice if there was some underlying story that we could follow, but there doesn't seem to be one. Fingers crossed that one sparks in the next episode or two and carries through to the end of the season.

This was the introduction episode to Phee after she only had one scene in the first episode. It is hard to tell what her role in the overall story but she has obviously a relation with Cid and they are building something around her so Phee may have a role in that. I am not vibing with this season 2 of the BB like i did with season 1 and i have been thinking about it a lot because it makes me sad. Season 1 was my favorite animation season in all of Star Wars and i find this second season a massive drop off in quality ( apart from episode 3.) I think i have an idea why, they have change the format of the storytelling. Almost every episode of last season had a B plot, either on Crosshair or on what was happening on Kamino with the Hunt for Omega. We don't have that this season, and i think it is missing. The last scene of season 1 was Nala Se arriving at an imperial facility, i would have enjoyed having a B plot involving her. But it is what it is, there is nothing bad in this show, it is just misplaced expectations on my part. They are taking their time, witch is also a good indication there is more seasons of this show coming ( nothing official just a feeling) and it is ultimately not a bad thing.

2 things stuck out to me. 1st Indiana Jones meets The Bad Batch and Dave Filoni had one to many bong hits. I'm with you let's get back to the story line. Job well done
