Rebels: The Lost Commanders + Relics of the Old Republic [2x03 + 2x04] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Hey everyone! I've combined two episodes into one video again. Please enjoy my reactions to Eps 3 + 4 of Rebels! I had to reduce the syncing time on this as I keep getting hit with copyright on these videos. [Direct link here.]

Thanks for watching and I'm so excited for your comments! 🖤

Rebels: The Lost Commanders + Relics of the Old Republic [2x03 + 2x04] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Episode 3 reminds me of Jaws when they are chasing jaws in the boat with the barrels attached to him. I think they were going for that feel. Even the music is similar

Great points made here Justin! Glad you enjoyed watching the episodes with me. The hug truly was everything!

Not in the moment... but I'd have to go back and listen to it!

When Zeb was being used as bait did the back ground music remind you of Jaws

Great thought about Freddie for sure, he's doing great as Kanan. Sigh, he voices three characters now that I really love. Iron Bull in Dragon Age: Inquisition, James in Mass Effect 3, and now Kanan. Love Freddie so much!

A lot of soft background about what was shown in Clone Wars s7 and what is still going to happen going forward in the Bad Batch about the clones was established for the first time by this two episodes. Wolfe clearly has more of a relationship with the Empire than the other two, so he must have been decommissioned but work with them until that moment, very different than Rex and Gregor. That Ahsoka and Rex scene is incredible. In a way it is sad to see the clones being so old now with their double ageing still being a thing. But their spirit is still young and still so impacted by their experience with the Jedi in a good way. Kanan reaction is understable, but it is in these moments than Ezra and Hera are important to help him move on. Thanks for another great reaction, this Rebels rewatch is really a fun time for me.

I loveeeee these episodes so much!! The Ahsoka and Rex hug gave me so much life haha, I also think this episode is Freddie Prinze Jr’s best performance as Kanan so far, he’s been great this whole time but in this episode in particular he was soooo fantastic. Everything about these episodes is just so amazing, top marks!

Like Rune, I have been SO EXCITED to rewatch these 2 episodes in particular along with you. We can finally talk about REX more!!! So yeah in real world time, the last appearance of Rex before this episode would have been Clone Wars Season 6, the ARC when Rush Clovis dies I think. But like Keeley said, there were 2-3 seasons worth of episodes already written and in various stages of production after Clone Wars ended. The siege of Mandalore and Bad Batch being 2 of them. Speaking of the Bad Batch, we’ve seen Rex doings some Rebel like stuff in that show. We see Rex ask the Batch to break Gregor out, but no Wolfe yet in Bad Batch! I’m hoping we see Rex break him out as well. But the interesting thing for me now, is WHAT REX is doing during the Bad Batch. Because in all honesty when I first watched this I thought that Rex and the boys just kinda retired and went into “hiding” sorta. But with Bad Batch now, we see many Clones such as, the Batch, Rex, Gregor, Cody, and Howzer all actively standing up or fighting the Empire. Which is interesting, especially because we see here that the Empire essentially still knows who and where many retired clones are. Also in Bad Batch Tech says that the Empire has Rex listed as KIA, but here he just talks to Kallus. Might be a plot hole, but also maybe Rex and Gregor told them differents Numbers/names. Probably would have to after Gregor broke out😬. This was a SUPER FUN set of episodes. Loved them! Ahsoka and Rex’s hug was EVERYTHING! And I hate but also appreciate that Ahsoka emailed Rex a bunch, but Wolfe marked them all as Read! I also want to know why Wolfe has an inch trigger finger and paranoia about Jedi. My theory is that he might have killed one😔. Obviously not PLO, but there is more going on with Wolfe and Rex and Gregor between Bad Batch and Rebels that I WANT TO KNOW!!!

Justin

Gregor was in bad batch season 2 and we could tell he was a little off at that point, so you figure this much further down the timeline he's gotten a bit crazier. You were doing a good job of holding it together but I was just waiting for the hug at the end, it gets me every time and your face being like "ugh cmon i was holding it together, that's not fair" was perfect.

Andrew Sitek

He was the Commander for Plo Koon the same that Cody was for Obi-Wan and Rex for Anakin! Also the clone who found Ahsoka at the warehouse in the Ahsoka arc at the end of S5.

kaiielle

Everyone always remembers Wolf, but I personally don’t remember the episode(s) of The Clone Wars he’s in. I’m sure I can look it up, but for some reason his character simply doesn’t ring a bell. KL, you’re the very FIRST to admit that the Disney+ thumbnails do actually gives away clues. Not all of them are spoilers, but I wish they change some of them that might lean that way.

Two fantastic episodes and I love them so much!

kaiielle

That makes sense!

I've been waiting for these two episodes for some time, cause I knew you'd love them. Rex, Wolf and Gregor roaming the desert in the ultimate adventure style RV/motor home 😍 Gregor seemed to have a few loose marbles rolling around after all these years, but can't blame him after all they've been through. At least he had a positive attitude on things. That hug at the end... 🥰

Rune

When Clone Wars was cancelled-- pre Rebels-- there were unfinished episodes they released in 2014ish (an Obi Wan and Anakin arc on Utupau, the original bad batch arc). For myself I knew they had planned on a Siege of Mandalore sort of story line before cancellation, but I don't think I knew that Ahsoka was supposed to have taken part in that until this episode where Rex mentions it.
