The Bad Batch: The Clone Conspiracy + Truth and Consequences [2x07 + 2x08] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Frig, I hope so!

The bill was gonna pass regardless, so the only thing achieved was getting Rampart out of the picture. Now, if the clones get phased out, that might include Crosshair as well. Especially now that Rampart has been removed, so to a new commander Crosshair might just be considered to be just another clone and discarded as such. So maybe, just maybe an unemployed Crosshair might want to rejoin the Batch...

I love the emotional intelligence she has and what it brings to the group. Emotional intelligence is so wonderful! Interesting theory about the assassin, yes! I can't wait to find out.

So, a lot to talk about, I'll try not to repeat too much of what has already been said, except that I loved Omega's moment of saying goodbye to Echo, it was really well handled, and that hug (hugs on screen, if done properly, are so special, even more so than kisses, in my opinion... and you got two special Star Wars hugs in a very short time... Ahsoka's and Rex and now Omega and Echo)... I find it so interesting that it is Omega's feelings and relationships that truly give emotional depth to the show. The other bad batchers are very tough, very hardened emotionally (they are first and foremost soldiers), and I believe without Omega it would be much harder for them to show emotions. I also think that the fact that Omega being more emotionally open is not just because she is a child, but a show of one of her bigger strengths: emotional intelligence. SHe's been shown to be very analitical, but not just with facts and logic, but also with emotions, she just seems to understand very easily what is going on with people and say the right things to get through to them (several moments in season 1 with Crosshair and now with senator Burtoni, etc.). I still hope we discover in this season if she was created for a special purpose, other than being a source for Jango's DNA, and if her skills are a result of that creation. Also, speculation time: the clone assassin doesn't have an identifying number, perhaps it was removed, but what if he never had one and he was created recently for a new purpose, or at least, experimentally repurposed from an existing clone (as even with accelerated aging, it would be a stretch for him to have been created recently from scratch). Let's not forget that Nala Se, the kaminoan scientist, survived the destruction on Kamino and is now working on secret projects for the empire. It might even be soehow linked to Omega. Pure speculation there. One of the theories that I've heard from a few people (but never convinced me) is that Omega could be somewhat force-sensitive, but the fact that meditating like a Jedi taught her doesn't feel too special for her would make me think she is not force-sensitive (bur everything is possible, who knows). Other nthan that, really, really great episodes. and as you said, very important for the timeline.

Thanks for sharing Justin! Thanks for clarifying Halle Burtoni was in Clone Wars, def couldn't remember that far back LOL. I def want more information on these assassin clones. Are there more of them?!!?

kaiielle

Agree with all of this! So excited for next week's episode drop!

kaiielle

LOL no worries on skipping episodes, that's totally fine! Maybe we will get some information on that, but maybe it won't happen right away. Do we know if Bad Batch plans on having a Season 3 or perhaps more seasons? If so, then I expect any info on Echo and Rex separating might be at the end of the show. But yeah, who knows. I also hope Echo doesn't die, but we've had so many clones die that it wouldn't really surprise me if he does. Guess we'll have to wait and see. And thank you! It was a SAD moment! I watched Blind Wave's reaction to these episodes too and they were pretty emotional during that scene as well.

"He's so evil but he's so good at it you have to respect it." - TOTALLY. Yeah, seeing Chuchi all grown up was really nice too, really loved her in these episodes so much. Such great character development!

There was a Slick way back at the beginning of the clone wars and the first time I watched the episode I thought that's what he said so I was a bit confused. The first episode does a great job of building suspense and keeping you guessing. Not many obvious twists and turns. Not sure if you caught it but Rex said his friends own the garage they questioned the clone in, he's referring to Trace and Raffa since we saw them working with him in season 1 It's great how the senate was a lively debate with everyone chiming in, then Palps comes in and the tone flips like a switch and he just commands the room and you can't help but smile when you realize he's playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers. He's so evil but he's so good at it you have to respect it You mentioned the clones visually aging a bit which is a great detail, but how about Senator Chuchi all grown up? We haven't seen her in a while and it's nice to see she's still a senator and is a lot more confident and less timid than when we saw her in the clone wars.

These episodes are sooooo peak, I decided to miss your reactions to the last few episodes as I really couldn’t be bothered watching them again but these ones I HAD to see your reaction to! These eps were simply fantastic, these and the first episode of season 1 are by far my favourites of the whole series, like you said they are soo important to the Star Wars timeline which are the kind of episodes I love. Now in terms of Echo leaving, it honestly kind of worries me as in rebels when we see Rex again, Echo isn’t with them… ): I know that it doesn’t necessarily mean echo died or anything, but it definitely worries me as in the episode where Rex returns in Rebels, he said he was done fighting, so surely something happened that deterred him from the fight? Idk, just a bit of speculation 🤷‍♂️ Loved this reaction, KL. Glad I wasn’t the only one who teared up when echo left haha 😆

This was honestly the best political dualogy in all of Star Wars animation. We had some good stuff in the Clone Wars but this was on another level. The return of Chuchi was a nice surprise. That damn Palpatine, he makes everything works for him. Ian Mcdiarmid coming back to do the voice made it extra special. The word Stormtrooper being used for the first time in the show at that particular moment was very impactful to cap off the episode. I am a little sad Echo is leaving for now, but maybe he will come back or we get an episode of Echo and Rex, not really sure. It also opens the possibility of Crosshair coming back to the squad. The moment was well earned and very emotional, very good writing for sure. I am intrigued by what that clone assassin really was. It may be part of something bigger that will come into play in the second part of the season. I wonder who will be in the Rampart's role going forward. Maybe Tarkin will show back up. Let see where this is going, i am very pleased the show got me back invested the past two weeks.

These 2 episodes ARE THE MOMENT!!! Just some of the best of the best Star Wars here! I’m going to start with fun facts first, then interesting details I noticed! Fun Facts- 1. The Clone Bar was indeed the one Fives met Kix at in season 6 of CW. 2. Slip and Cade were brand new clones😢 RIP. And Slip slipped away from the sniper once, probably why he was named that😂. 3. Senator Pamlo who sided with Bail is from Rogue One, she is apart of the Rebel Council discussing whether or not to send troops to Scariff. 4. THE RIYO CHUCHI has returned!!! Love her, and it makes sense that the People with New Zealand accents would fight for the other people with New Zealand accents (Pantorans and Clones) 5. The Kaminoan senator “Hali Burtony” is from the CW arc where Uncle Anacanda Far was poised, and where Padmé punches that Rodian lady👊😅. 6. The Garage that Rex and ChuChi held up in is the Martez sisters place (Trace and Rafa) they were the ones who told Rex about the Batch in season 1, and Ahsoka HAD to have been the one to tell Rex about the Sisters. 7. Also not 100% sure on the timeline, but this would have taken place almost certainly after Bail recruits Ahsoka to become Fulcrum. We see him do that in Tales of the Jedi and that should have taken place about a year after Revenge of the Sith. I think this season also takes place between 1-2 years after RotS. Things I noticed- As far as I know, ChuChi only met Rex once or twice, so it’s fun to see that she recognizes him. That new assassin trooper is interesting because it seems like a Chip isn’t forcing him to do this, like Crosshair, it appears as if some Clones are just going all in on the authoritarianism of the Empire. Which is really interesting. We know from Kenobi and Rebels that the Clones as a whole are let loose into the civilian population, but our examples of them are either as hermits like Rex, Gregor, and Wolfe, or the Homeless Clone from Kenobi. So I doubt that that pension plan ever comes to light😔. Or at least not for most clones. I watch most episodes with my best friend, and he was sure that the assassin was Crosshair! It had crossed my mind but I thought that was too easy. And when that assassin bit an electo tooth, I was shook. The show just got REAL😳. Also Rampart being out means that the show will need a new villain, OR Rampart is still around just working secretly, outside of public light. But I think rampart is out. Palpatien showing up was CHILLING🥶, he really did have a plan for a plan for a plan. And I NEVER would have expected Omega to be walking around the Senate building!!! In that adorable little Senate poncho too! We will miss Echo🥲, he had a lot of good moments this season. I am BEYOND EXCITED to continue bad Batch! This show links Clone Wars, Andor, and Rebels together SO SO WELL!

Justin

Oh my gosh he went away that early?! Completely forgot the timeline 🤣

kaiielle

Echo dies in Season 3 of Clone Wars comes back in 7. Also props to the voice actress of Omega for that “Yes Sir" line as it was so heartfelt and emotional.
