Rebels: Shroud of Darkness [2x18] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Something I don't think anyone's mentioned is that it was confirmed that the Grand Inquisitor was in fact a temple guard before order 66 this wasn't just a vision that placed him as a temple guard rather than some random jedi. There's another bit I'd like to tell about him because of this vision as it's never stated in the series but rather it was stated in a Forbes article on the episode, but I'm not sure you'd consider it a spoiler or not since who knows if it'll come up in some other media or not so I won't. Part of the reason he fell is detailed during one of the Darth Vader comic books so I won't say anything on that either as I don't know if you have any plans to read them.

SAAAAME!

Great episode, and it is very much in the spirit of Filoni to bring into canon ideas from Legends. As a fan of KOTOR, I loved the mention of Malachor.

7th Sister is SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR?!?!? Oh my gosh!

kaiielle

Definitely an exciting episode! All of their visions were pretty interesting. The Voice actors for Kanen and the 7th Sister are married in real life. Which makes that flirty exchange between them more enjoyable! The designs for Anakin and Yoda were a bit weird compared to Clone Wars, but I think that the moments were definitely still great! This is an episode that definitely can make you think about some things after you’ve seen more of this show and other Star Wars media, new ideas about some things sprung to mind after rewatching this. It was super exciting to see the a Vision of the Grand Inquisitor, Knight Kannen! Just really cool!

Right, makes sense! Gosh I can't imagine how impactful Season 7 would have been for all of you. I have watched many reactions to it on YouTube from when it first came out, but it's still hard to fathom just how wild that would be.

kaiielle

Yeah, great episode to tie all that stuff in!

kaiielle

Yes, they look so cool!

Season 6 of Clone Wars happened before Rebels. Clone Wars was originally a Cartoon Network show, and then Disney acquired the Star Wars rights and that's why Clone Wars ended suddenly-- and probably a small factor of why they changed animation style in Rebels. They got all the rights and stuff sorted and we eventually-- after Rebels-- got season 7 of Clone Wars which no one was expecting. When Ahsoka says she "last saw Anakin he was rushing off to save the chancellor" was not something we knew about but was one of those little nuggets of the story in Clone Wars we never got to see (since the last time we saw Anakin and Ahsoka together she was leaving the temple.) I think you will enjoy the next episode immensely.

This is one of those episodes where a lot of things seem to click and make sense, like the clone wars season 6 stuff with Yoda and knowing what was happening before anyone else, season 7 with Ahsoka last seeing Anakin before he went to the Chancellor, etc. Love Yoda giving Ezra a quick recap on basically the prequels since it gives a lot of context to Kanan, Ahsoka, and the current state of the jedi. The acknowledgement between Ahsoka and Yoda is great, they know each other is alive and "well". Also Ahsoka coming to terms with Anakin being Vader...she was trying to fight it for a while but now she's faced her fears and has accepted it.

Love the Temple Guard outfits from the mask to the robes and the whole white on gold colouring it just looks really nice, Yellow Lightsabers are a bonus for me as there my personal favourite colour.

I try my best not to. I certainly don't look at them for future seasons.

Avoid looking at the thumbnail for future episodes they may contain spoilers!
