Rebels: The Antilles Extraction [3x04] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

An really fun episode! I like that we saw more of Governor Pryce and Kallus! Skystrike Academy is a REALLY COOL location too! Basically just a Massive floating Tower full of Hangers. The Kallus being helpful but was really interesting, I also enjoyed that both Sabine and Pryce threw digs at Kallus’s inability to capture the Lothal Rebel’s 😂. The funny part is though that while Kallus keeps failing, he is still alive while 4 Inquisitors died attempting to catch them😳. THAT’s a LOT of RED BLADES! And Dylan was right about Hobbie (Derek) being in Empire.

Thanks for the info!

To be fair, I had just watched A New Hope not that long ago so that movie was still pretty fresh in my brain.

Ahh I didn't catch that Sabine didn't know if it was him or not. Very cool!

Such a fun episode, showing more of what challenges the Rebellion has (pilot shortages) and how they solve it. About knowing from the start that Wedge and the others wanted to defect, well, I am not sure if you missed it, but at the start, the Fulcrum agent was saying there were pilots who wanted to defect, but he didn't know their names, so Sabine had to guess if Antilles was one of them. And, by the way, I found it so funny how Sabine blew into the ID card and it worked, it took me back to the original Game Boy games, where sometimes you had to blow the cartridge for it to work.

Loved seeing the VR Pods those reminded me a lot of the training Pods in X-Wing and Tie Fighter games from the 1990s where you could create you're own simulated battles. Seeing Wedge Antilles was really cool a character introduced in A New Hope. He of course fought in the Battle of Yavin, where he flew in Red Squadron alongside Luke Skywalker later fighting in The Battle of Hoth and The Battle of Endor being apart of Landos strike team on the 2nd Dearh Star. He became a respected member of Rogue Squadron and even starred in the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron video games while also showing up decades later in The Rise of Skywalker. There's a Bail Antilles as well a prince in the House of Antilles on the planet Alderaan. He was played by Adrian Dunbar in The Phantom Menace but originally he was cast to play Bail Organa, but during the production his character was changed to that of Bail Antilles. Ultimately the scene in which he appeared was cut from the final version of the film. There's also Captain Raymus Antilles who captained the CR90 corvettes Tantive III and Tantive IV showing up in Revenge of the Sith and 19 years later in Rogue One handing the Deathstar plans to Leia and then in A New Hope dying to the hands of Vader. Not sure if there all related but it seems that all three of these characters have origins in The House of Antilles on Alderaan. Derek Klivian the other person who escaped was also a member of Rogue Squadron. After the Battle of Yavin, Luke Skywalker invited Klivian to join Rogue Squadron. During the Battle of Hoth Klivian sacrificed himself by crashing his T-47 airspeeder into Maximilian Veers's All Terrain Armored Transport, Blizzard 1. This was featured in a cut scene from Empire Strikes Back but you can still see Derek in the movie I'm just unsure if the deleted scene is consided canon but we never see him again after Hoth so I'm assuming his death is canon.

Impressive recall about Wedge even before the episode started. Now you can watch the OG trilogy and be like "I saw Sabine recruit him from the Empire!"
