The Bad Batch: The Crossing [2x09] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

This episode was the perfect example of very little happening but yet SO much happening. Such an important episode for THEM as people, not necessarily timeline importance for the bigger picture.

"Almost 11 my car is." I think Star Wars is beginning to influence your speech paterns too... ;) At first watch I wasn't impressed with this episode, it seems very little happened. But the conversation between Goggles and Omega was touching.

Oh I don't disagree with you at all, Omega is definitely the most emotionally intelligent and the most emotionally aware. Interesting comment by that person, I don't know that I see much similarities either but it's a cool observation.

He's so good. Definitely my favourite Star Wars voice actor at this point.

It was just so good! Still thinking about it today. And honestly I kinda agree with you on Cid. As we progress through this timeline, the boys will be needed for bigger things (I hope) and no longer having to do Cid's dirty work.

kaiielle

Ooh yeah it might be more than two episodes! Maybe Crosshair comes to their rescue somehow? Or Cody! Or Rex! Who knows, just excited for it anyway!

Right, the technical ages of all of them always mess with me, I'm genuinely just going by feeling and how they come across in behaviours. I love the development and progression of all the clones, it's just oh so good.

I loved this episode! And you mentioned how the Clones are middle aged which is funny because they would all technically still be in their twenties I think. Like even the oldest clones wouldn’t be 30 quite yet if this is 2 years after episode 3. Which I’m assuming it’s between 1&1/2 and 2 years but that me. I think the war and especially the stress of being a Clone post order 66 probably makes them a lot more tired looking. And I also don’t know who first said this but Tech definitely portrays some Autistic traits. And I love that we see Tech opening up some. This season has had a lot of moments which Tech experiencing new things, being praised for his accomplishments by Romar and for racing, and so I think he might end up showing a bit more emotion more often🤷‍♂️. Tech said this episode that as soldiers they have to adapt and move on. Which we see the whole batch sorta have a pre disposition to not showing emotion that much, because they were all raised to kill, and that’s it. It took Rex like 4 seasons before he gained enough determination to try and do anything like arrest Krell. And 7 Season’s before he shed a tear. So basically I love seeing the Clones find themselves outside of just being Soldiers.

This very much felt like a part 1/2 and at the end of the first watch I was a bit surprised that it wasn't a 2 parter like last week, but that just makes me feel like it may be more than that, maybe 3 episodes? The approaching storm has to be more than just a storm, so in traditional Star Wars fashion I'm guessing that storm coming in at the end is foreshadowing the next episode or two being pretty intense so I'm excited.

That was the best small scale episode of the Bad Batch. I appreciated they decided to take the time to reflect on how losing Echo affected the team. Omega is really having a hard time and who can blame her. It is really the season of Tech, he is getting so much character development. Good representation like you pointed out. I am glad the show is going back to more serialize elements. This week episode is affected by last week events and it is also building to next week. I am done with Cid. Unless there is a very good reason she can't help quickly i hope the Batch move on from her.

This episode was soooo good OMG! I decided to wait a day to watch this with you and I’m probably gonna do that with all episodes from now on with maybe an exception for the last 2 eps (: But yeah this episode was really well written, the communication barrier between the batch was really well handled here, and like you said the moments where Tech has to process what omega said and how to reply is just great. Props to Dee Bradley Baker man, my god!

This was such a great episode! The whole emotional part was handled so great. While I agree, Omega is a child and her way of processing emotions is child-like, I stand by what I said in my last comment: she is also the most emotionally intelligent of the group: acknowledging and processing your feelings instead of toughening it up is very much a sign of emotional intelligence. Omega seems to know what to say to connect with other people, and now she needed someone to connect with her because she was upset, and the rest of the Bad Batch clearly were struggling to do that, specially Tech. But in the end he managed to do that, and to express his own feelings, which is so wholesome. Another youtuber commented on the similarities on how the Bad Batch process their emotions and how the prequel era Jedi did, I am not sure if I see them as THAT similar, but still an interesting thought.
