Gretchen made millions off Walt's research. That fire ants speech with Jr is a reference to Malcom in the Middle where Bryan Cranston gives an almost identical speech in S2E5 MITM --> S2E6 BB. Also Walt's lie of Gretchen & Elliot going broke is more believable to the live audience because this episode aired after the crash of 2008

The character development here is absolutely masterful, we’re seeing Walt enter his villain era and we’re seeing that Jesse isn’t inherently a bad guy. This is also the first episode to make my cry or at least tear up lol, Jesse is just such a compelling character I love him soooo much, and him telling the kid to have a good life just hit me so hard man. Loveddd this reaction, KL! Definitely one of the best reactions you’ve made in my opinion (:
