Rebels: Heroes of Mandalore [4x01 + 4x02] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Happy Friday everyone! I can't believe we're already starting the final season of Rebels. In many ways, it feels like I just started this show. The reactions to this season will cover the entire month and we'll conclude nicely by month-end. I'm away in the States from June 30 - July 6, so the finale of this show will probably go out on the 29th and then I will begin my reactions to The Mandalorian on July 7. 🥳 This is gonna be a great month and I can't wait. ❤️ Please enjoy! Rebels: Heroes of Mandalore [4x01 + 4x02] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

I've been watching enough reactions to SoM at this point that the moment I saw Ursa in it (since watching the episode where she was introduced here), I was like 😲

One of the good story lines of the series. I actually watched this earlier this year to refresh some Mandalore lore. Haha, that sounds funny. Love that Bo was left with the dark saber. I don’t think I realized that Sabin’s mom was in CW until you mentioned it. Now I have to go back and watch Siege of Mandalore again. Really love Sabine with each passing episode. Great reaction! TY

Thank you!

They did animate Kanan at the end, he had a jetpack on that final mission to destroy the weapon, and he was flying next to Ezra as they were escaping.

Great development indeed! Was really happy to see Bo-Katan again. And thanks for adding some context to that and also explaining where Mandalore is at in this timeline right now.

It's funny after all the character development and growth we've seen from Ezra, that they give him a jetpack and he struggles basically the entire two episodes. We haven't seen him struggle like that in a while so it's funny getting a bit of a flashback to season 1 Ezra. So at this point, Mandalore is in a weird spot. We saw it thriving under Satine, then Maul kills her. Maul basically uses it as a base for an underworld empire, then turns it into a battlefield. Bo Katan takes over and we don't really see much of it between Season 7 and then Rebels but we know Bo Katan lost to the empire in some fashion obviously. Then we get Sabine in line to take over with the dark saber, she defers to Bo Katan who gets a second chance. In all this time, Mandalore is fragmented either with people leaving, dying, fighting each other, etc so it's a pretty tenuous time for a historically tenuous group of people. I understand your thoughts on Bo telling Sabine that mandalorians aren't supposed to be that cruel, and it may sound weird coming from a warrior clan, but they're supposed to be honorable. Don't forget about Bo Katan's younger days when she was in death watch burning innocent people's villages. Death watch was not honorable and I'm sure she carries that with her the same way Sabine carries the guilt and shame of that weapon she created. Bo has had a lot of time to grow, and she obviously made bad decisions in her youth as well leading up to her sister dying. She feels the pull to be a leader (by her nature and her birth right) but now that she's older she sees how her sister was as a leader and doesn't feel like she can be that, but she feels like that's the leader Mandalore needs. It's a really fascinating situation and good character development for a "secondary" character throughout both shows

Thanks for watching Justin and thanks for the info!

These were some fun episodes! I loved the fight over getting Sabine’s Dad back! And I loved getting more info about Mandalorian culture. It was great seeing Bo Katan again as well! Ok some fun fact type stuff! 1. During the last fight of the 2 episode, when the group is leaving the Star Destroyer, Kanen is flying with a Jetpack in the scene on the right side of the screen when the camera is facing the party’s back. 2. The Weapon first appears here, with only a vague mention that Sabine Built “TERRIBLE WEAPONS THAT HELPED ENSLAVE HER PEOPLE” and here she says that she built the Dutchess as a “Challenge” likely because Pure Beskar armor and Armor with Beskar Alloy is some of THE best Armor in the entire Galaxy! 3. Tiber Saxon actually is wearing FULL Stormtrooper armor rather than Imperial Mandalorian Armor 4. And your absolutely right about how the Mandalorians should’ve been able to take down those walkers faster. Those walkers are the AT-DP walkers that we’ve seen In rebels since season 1. And the Ghost crew have taken them down pretty easily most of the time. 5. The scene where Ezra looks amazed in the Doorway is a callback to when Obi Wan stands in a similar Doorway looking at the Mandalorian Civil War there, with Maul’s Mandalorians and Bo Karan’s in Clone Wars season 5

Hi Froziac! Thanks for joining me on the Star Wars journey. It's been a LONG one, but so much fun. I'm so excited to get to the live-action stuff! Though I'm probably gonna watch Star Wars Visions at some point - I've been convinced. 😅

What a bittersweet moment starting the last season, joined for MCU and decided it was finally time to watch the animated star wars shows alongside you and have never looked back. *although I couldn't resist finishing season 3 when you went on break, glad I'm back to blind reactions to close this off :P can't wait for the live-action shows tho
