John Walker is an interesting character. I don't think when he said "Do you know who I am?!" he meant it as like him as a person. I think he meant it more as the legacy of Cap and what that shield represents, so spitting in the face of that image would be very insulting to someone like him. Which makes sense. He says that he never met Steve but looked up to him. He's got one of the most difficult jobs on the planet because, as you said, there's so many expectations and thoughts put on him before he ever says or does anything whatsoever, and he's just a guy trying to do his best to live up to that role. He's a very accomplished and decorated soldier who does seem to earnestly want to help people and is willing to lay down his life if need be. I remember feeling for him because it feels like he's been thrown into a pressure cooker.

Yesss my favorite Phase 4 show! I could rewatch this show a million times lol Sam is one of my favorite characters in the MCU and I'm so glad this show gives us the space to unpack who he his, his family etc, and explore more of his dynamic with Bucky and actually allow us to sit and experience Bucky's struggle and healing process a bit. You are also NOT alone on the Sam and Bucky shipping agenda, they are two very handsome men with a hilarious dynamic, it's all in good fun lol But honestly Sam and Bucky are probably my favorite duo in the MCU. Wyatt Russell really does a great job as John Walker because he manages to make me feel bad for his character, but also really really dislike him at the same time. Fun fact: Zemo's mask here in the show is a call back to his characters mask in the comics which some fans were disappointed to see he didn't wear in his introduction in Civil War. I was never a comic reader but I like a lot of the characters designs from the comics and one of my favorite things about Phase 4 is how they seemingly have been incorporating a lot more comic accurate references or designs for the characters. Can't wait for the final 3 episodes!

THE THERAPY PHASE. 💀💀💀 Amazing. 😆 I agree with you, it is nice to have such a human element to this stuff by focusing on the mental health aspect. I also appreciate seeing the greater picture. I'm truly fascinated by how the impact of The Blip was to the global workings of things for every country and government and for corporations and capitalism overall. Like I would seriously watch a show just about that! Oh man, I'm terrible at recognizing themes sometimes. I was really good at it with Game of Thrones and seem to have lost my mojo on that ever since. Thank you for pointing that out!

Oh no I definitely didn't remember that guy from Winter Soldier, though he did seem familiar to me so I had a feeling he was in a previous movie. I don't watch MMA or know anything about it really, but it's possible I recognize his face that way. Oh gosh, can't wait to look up all the memes! I've been scanning the credits for scenes so far - thank you for the heads up that there are some!

That's awesome!

Love this comment! Thank you

Episode 1-3 was a interesting start to the Show. To see Sam struggle after coming back from the blip and Bucky fighting his inner demons after all he had done was very intruiging and gave both actors possibilities to explore their characters. Great potential to dive deeper into their Motivations, their struggles, their development/growth, their fears and hopes. How they could move on from what happened not only in Endgame but while they were blipped. Sams struggle with the expectations being the new Captain America, to find a way to grow closer with his Family and being a part of them after all the time. The same goes for Bucky. His interaction with Yori opened up so many possibilties to dive deeper into Bucky´s feelings and his strive for becoming a better person and overcome his feeling of guilt. Real Character growth for both of them and giving the audience something to think about. A look behind the all-shiny Curtain of being a Superhero. A positive Message that we all can do better and we should never give up no matter the odds. I spare the rest for the ending. Take care everyone and be the best you can, every day.

Thanks for improving a rather dull Thursday, my dear.

Zemo was a trip in this and I enjoyed every minute he was on screen 😆

Woohoo!!! I was hoping you would enjoy this one, I certainly did. First Wanda gets some sudo therapy and now Bucky is in actual therapy. Welcome to Phase 4, The Therapy Phase 😜 One of the big highlights for me with some of the shows is how much they focus on the mental state of these characters. Sometimes breaking them all the way down to their most vulnerable emotional state. Right now the characters we know and love are in mourning for their fallen loved ones and trying to adjust to the “New World” post blip. The MCU has always tried to focus somewhat on how the decisions the Avengers make effects the world as a whole. It is wonderful that they brought everyone back, but they didn’t stop to think about all the problems that could cause. It is a very interesting concept and I love that they are not shying away from it. I also really enjoyed how they continue to use the “Winter Soldier’s theme music whenever we see him in that mode or when his past is mentioned, like with Yori in the restaurant when he is talking about his Son being killed. Those long drawn out screams that continue to haunt Bucky put you right back in the darkness of what he went through all those years.

Not sure if you connected it or not but the main mercenary from episode 1 (Batroc, played by MMA fighter Georges St-Pierre) was the merc Steve fought at the beginning of Winter Soldier on the ship. Also, Sam briefly mentioned the drone was named Red Wing in Civil War. In the comics, he had a real falcon with the same name. So glad you’re enjoying the series. The internet had a field day with Zemo dancing at Sharon’s place so there are plenty of gifs and memes once you’re done with the series. 🙂Also, there are post credits scenes in episodes 5 & 6. Have a good one!

I did not! Forgive me, I have only seen Solo once and that was pretty much at the start of my Star Wars journey over 1.5 years ago now. 😂

kaiielle

Great reaction!!!! This my favorite marvel tv series. Have recognized Karli yet. You should from your Star Wars stuff!!!!!

Perry Campbell

You know, I've thought he looked familiar this whole show but I didn't look up the actor. Totally makes sense LOL. Yes, his acting is great. Shame I'm not a fan of his character so far, but that's okay!

kaiielle

Wyatt Russell really knocked it out of the park in this show. Fun that he is a part of it just like his dad.

Brian Settles

Basically, I didn’t have much appreciation for Sam or Bucky, despite Winter Soldier being one of my tops. I’m excited to rewatch now that I REALLY like those characters.

Oh SH*T! I forgot that this was coming. A lovely surprise! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
