Not sure what to make of IV which hasn't dropped yet. I think when you keep trying to make sequels for something like this it loses a lot of the impact the first one had. This movie and Coming To America were the 2 best Eddie Murphy has done. Anytime I need an uplift mood mood wise I just pop in the DVD ...

2023-11-05 23:32:54 +0000 UTCDidn't seem like you put it together: that song you associate with those Crazy Frog videos is actually titled "Axel F" -- it's score *from* this movie. Beverly Hills Cop 4, or Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley, is in fact already filmed; it finished filming in January 2023. It is a co-production between Paramount and Netflix, so it will actually launch on Netflix after a short theatrical run. In those thirty years, they've been developing a fourth movie for a long time. In the mid-2000s, Brett Ratner of the Rush Hour movies was attached to direct, and then in 2013, Shawn Ryan ("Sons of Anarchy") developed and shot a pilot starring Jesse T. Usher as Axel Foley's son, with an extended cameo from Murphy as Axel. It did not get picked up and so it has never seen the light of day. Personally, I do not like Beverly Hills Cop II very much, and Beverly Hills Cop III is even worse. I hope it will be good, although the reception to Murphy's Coming 2 America in 2021, another sequel to one of his movies he made 30 years later, is not especially encouraging. According to your LBX you would have also seen Judge Reinhold (Billy Rosewood) in Amy Heckerling's great Fast Times at Ridgemont High, where he plays Brad Hamilton, who gets fired from Bronco Burger and has to work at the fish restaurant, and of course quite notoriously gets caught in the bathroom by Phoebe Cates' character.

Curious how long that earworm of a 'tune!' stayed with you after? The 2nd is as good in my opinion, in some ways better. A credible argument could be made for the 3rd being a bit of a watered down departure. But I have fun with it in a number of ways. I hope to see the 2nd in the future.
