Clark is great at the fanboy acting, that's for sure!

A week in between would have made me speculate SO much. 😂

They never specifically state in the show, but the showrunners said later, because a lot of people assumed Ward didn't kill Buddy the dog, that he actually did. They were juxtaposing that with the FitzSimmons present day situation that he does care, but that's why he couldn't look at them while he "pulled the trigger." He fired the gun so it'd run away from him and then he could snipe it. It was unclear though to the viewers. He said that it was a weakness in him. Like you said, no one is born evil, but Skye never said that. She just said he was evil. I think a lot of people put some mystical or otherworldly meaning to the word "evil," but it's not. I've thought that the best definition of it was one I actually heard on a TV show where a character said to woman who called her twin sister who was murdered deserving of it because of her decadent and evil lifestyle, he said "My grandmother always said that 'Evil was the lack of compassion.'" Shut the self-righteous sister down. It is in the choices we make and when those choices lack compassion or empathy, those can be viewed as evil. Ward, like the rest of us, is a product of all the people who taught & influenced him. Just because he could've been a good person once, doesn't mean that's what he turned out to be. He may be a pitiable character, but he isn't a "good" person. The best I can say about him is that he a messed up person and that was done to him when he was young and impressionable.

It was great to see Coulson back to his old self geeking out over the vintage tech. The FitzSimmons cosplay at Cybertek was hilarious. I also loved how you thought "taking care of Buddy" meant taking care of Buddy. So innocent! Also, spoon feeding us these last four episodes feels like torture, are we sure you're not Hydra? :o Stoked for the finale!

All the pieces of the season on the chart all connecting with each other is so beautiful. Can't wait for the finale.

Coulson fanboying is so funny to me! Just like how he was flustered around Steve Rogers in the original The Avengers (2012) movie, and asking him to sign his vintage trading cards, here he is geeking out over some vintage Howling Commandos gear. 😅 Garrett telling Ward to "take care of Buddy" (meaning; kill this dog I made you deeply connect with), was clearly a final test of Ward's loyalty back in the day. Now Garrett asking Ward to kill FitzSimmons seems to me to be indicating that Garrett, like you, is seeing some signs that Ward may not be 100% loyal anymore and therefore Garrett is testing Ward's loyalty again. ("It's not a weakness, is it?").

Such a great episode from the nerdy getup of Coulson and May to the giddy Coulson and Tripp reactions to the old gadgets. The whole back story intreaction of Ward and Garret making us hate to like ward again. Ending with a double cliff hanger of Fitz and Simmons in the ocean and the rest of the team trapped by cyber soilders..... imagine having to wait a week when the series was new for the next episode !

Lots of good things this episode: - Ward/Garrett backstory - Coulson geeking out over Trip's Howling Commando gear - May & Coulson undercover as (effectively) Fitzsimmons, which then gives us the 'large file transfer' (which will never not be funny) - Additional Deathlok info, and more hints about Skye Raina's *so* good at manipulating people - she played Ward perfectly with the Skye info. Whilst Ward doesn't know Skye's past, and Raina can't be sure, we as the audience do know that what Raina describes is about Skye from the details we got in 1x12. One nice callback is the device Trip uses to scan the barber shop basement is clearly an ancestor of the scanner tray Ward uses to find the safe back in the pilot.
