Thanks Clay! I'm glad to hear that Denzel got an Oscar for his performance in this. It's pretty memorable and his line delivery was great too. I'd def like to check out Lincoln one day, I'm gonna mark it down for next Feb.

Thanks for watching the videos and being part of the community! I do know about that, but still won't be bringing these shows to YouTube for the time being. I am thinking about incorporating a TV series once a week sometime later this year, but I have other shows I've watched that I want to bring to YouTube first. I'm hoping maybe in 2025 I can start getting some of the MCU shows edited, the ones outside the "Phases" that is. 😊

Hey I just found your channel not too long ago and I’m a huge MCU fan. Not an MCU reaction I get it but It’s a recent video so I’d assume you’d see this. I love seeing someone going through the MCU blind and without any expectations to ruin or hype up projects within the MCU and it makes your reactions feel real. I can’t wait for you to catch up but there is an important change that you may already know by someone else or may not know. This isn’t a spoiler but a while ago the Netflix shows; Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher were on the fence with being canon to the MCU but just recently they 100% confirmed those shows to be canon to the MCU while agent Carter and agents of shield are still not canon at the moment.

"I love the 54th." Excellent reaction. Hidden Figures is good and inspirational (I am glad you will react to it), but I preferred Glory and glad that Glory won the poll. Denzel Washington's Oscar for his performance (his first Oscar) well-deserved. His acting was convincing throughout the movie. I agree stunning scene him with scars on his back being whipped -- his stone face with the single tear trickling down his cheek -- the intensity. Whipped for sneaking out in an effort find shoes. As you apparently did, I like that final night scene when they singing/talking and the Denzel Washington character referred to themselves as "men." Then, at the end, when the 54th was storming the Confederate-held fort, the Denzel Washington character (Trip) picked up the fallen US flag (after earlier he said he didn't want to carry the flag). Trip had definitely raised a legitimate issue w/Shaw as why he did not want to carry the flag. Former slaves were treated like shit after Reconstruction, and then blacks generally suffering through Jim Crow well into the 20th century. African Americans still getting screwed today. I can't help but think that drill sergeants go overboard, but like you, I understand their reason for doing so. I thought about that in a late scene of their first battle when Thomas very effectively and agressively took out (beat/stabbed) a Confederate soldier. I did not make the connection that this is the same director as The Last Samurai (another good reaction of yours). By the way, I just happened to rewatch Lincoln (2012) last night. Great movie.

I saw this movie with my dad when I was 11 or 12 in the theater. My dad was always a big history buff, and I was excited to see a movie with Ferris Bueller in it (Ferris Bueller with a mustache, no less). We both exited the theater crying our eyes out; and then my dad took me to get pizza and explained some life lesson stuff to me about human nature and hate and history and how shitty and how amazing people can be--or, at least he tried to. I very distinctly remember the day and the mood, but not necessarily the specifics of the conversation. So, this movie makes me think of my dad. He passed away a little over 14 years ago, and movies about history--especially war movies, which he loved--make me think about him in general. As for the cast: holy fucking shit, Denzel, Morgan, Ferris Bueller with a mustache, The Dread Pirate Roberts, and my first time ever seeing Andre Braugher (RIP)--I would become a huge fan of his later through the shows 'Homicide: Life on the Street' and 'Brooklyn 99'.
