Daredevil: Condemned [1x06] ✦ Full-Length Watchalong Reaction & Review

Oh, one thing I just remembered was the back cover of the "Born Again" graphic novel where on it was a quote from The Kingpin. Remember how I said that the titles on the covers of comics had a descriptor for the hero along with the name and Daredevil's was "The Man Without Fear," well the quote said something like "...and I alone have shown him, that a man with nothing to lose...is a man without fear." I was like "Ooh, I'm DEFINITELY reading this." 😁

Oh yeah, and I love how even though we only saw a glimpse of what Matt sees, they show how he perceives in cool ways, like in the warehouse how he could tell what was in the room without turning around and walking around. He just slightly tilts his head and moves it a bit. He perceives in 360 degrees, unlike the rest of us.

You keep saying that this show is so good and when it first was released, I was saying the same thing with every episode and would think that I wish my sister could've seen this. My older sister told me, when I was buying comics and really into 'em in the late 80s/early 90s that her favorite hero was Daredevil. She'd asked to borrow my X-Men comics and I was like, "You like comics?" and she said, "Yeah," and I asked who her favorite hero was and I expected one of the X-Men, but she said Daredevil. I said, "I've never really read any Daredevil" and she talked about how cool she thought he was. I was like, "Huh, nice." Then I saw a graphic novel in the cut bin at a bookstore, I think it was Barnes & Noble, and it was "Daredevil: Born Again." I bought it for her, but I read it first and was like, "This is SO good." This series is, in part, based off of that story, but the new Daredevil show they're working on is called "Daredevil: Born Again" so I assume it will have more elements from that story, but also it's probably a nod to it being actually brought under the Marvel Studios/MCU umbrella. Obviously I lucked out on getting a popular Daredevil story for cheap. She died in a car accident in '93 so she never got to see this. I think she would've LOVED it.

Was already in love with this show by this point, but this one really put it over the top for me. The showdown between Matt and Fisk is everything. Looking forward to more.

The 'battle of words' between Matt and Fisk is the highlight of this episode - as both Fisk and Vlad say, Matt isn't all that different from them, and it could easily only take one bad night for him to become them. Another thing that both Fisk and Vlad point out is that Matt has a naivety about himself, and about where what he's doing will lead - assuming that he did take down Fisk somehow, realistically it's not going to end there. This criminal underworld Matt is fighting is essentially the embodiment of 'cut off one head, two more shall take its place' (to quote Hydra!)

Excellent storytelling. We had Fisk say matt killed Vlad brother which turned Vlad against Matt then Vlad thinks Matt and Fisk are working together which turns Vlad against both. Matt goes after Vlad to get Fisk which turns into Vlad helping Matt get Fisk. The full circle type of story in this mini arc with Vlad.

In the beginning of the episode I believe Matt was fully prepared to be arrested and revealed until he discovered they were dirty cops. He was fully handcuffed when he leapt into action. I think really demonstrates his commitment to the law despite the hypocrisy of being a vigilante. And I agree with you that you really jump through emotional hoops with every episode. I am so enjoying these reactions and watching you learn about Daredevil. Looking forward to next week’s releases already.
