Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Well [1x08] โœฆ Full-Length Watchalong Reaction & Review

And here's my reaction to Episode 8! As always, loving the character development and relationships and it's clear that's the ultimate focus of this show. I said at the very end that I will try my best to get 3 episodes out next week for you instead of 2. If I do that, they probably won't get shared back-to-back, but maybe. ๐Ÿ‘€ We'll see. Thanks so much for watching! [Direct link here.]

Cheers,

I love this episode a lot. The idea of an Asgardian just kinda chilling on earth for a thousand years is cool to me, but obviously there's also so much character and team development in this episode specifically that I absolutely adore. I can't disagree with Onno Smits that the yelling looks a little bit goofy, that said, in this show specifically, I couldn't care less what things look like. It's the story that's great.

Thank you for not hinting or spoiling. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thanks for pointing out small things that I def wouldn't remember. These tie-ins are fun.

Another big tie in to MCU with the opening direct tie in too Thor dark world and cleaning up after the mess left behind. not to mention all the other tie ends in this episode, like you said so much character developemnt each episode for each character, more so for certain characters per episode which makes perfect sense to learn more about them faster then just a little here and there.

Chris Elkins

Fully support this episode, but not much I want to say. Because of spoilers. Story interactions. Character evolutions. So I will keep it simple. Tahiti. It is a magical place.

I'm not a big fan of this episode, to be honest. The yelling in rage looks goofy af. ๐Ÿ˜… Obviously, the big MCU connection this episode was the tie-in with Thor: The Dark World. Starting with the cleanup in London, and then having an Asgardian-centric case of the week. A small additional connection is at the end of the episode, when Coulson recommends visiting Portland to the Asgardian warrior, specifically mentioning that the philharmonic orchestra there is excellent. You may remember Coulson talking to Pepper in The Avengers, about him dating a cellist, but that she moved back to Portland. Later in the movie as Tony Stark and Coulson enter the bridge on the Helicarrier, Tony says; "So, I'm just saying, pick a weekend, I'll fly you to Portland. Keep love alive!". These are all tiny completely throwaway lines of dialog but I love 'em because of that reason. It just adds a lot to the worldbuilding when these small details reappear later.

Onno Smits

Commentary for both of the drops today. You are definitely noticing some of the breadcrumbs being dropped. Not all of them, but enough. Hard not so say things that "set expectations", but the show wouldn't be so popular with fans unless it grows to be more than what it's showing at the moment. So glad you are taking it for that it is and enjoying it. Yet, all these moments, all these breadcrumbs are a part of the story. To be clear, since I've seen other reactors miss a potentially subtle point here. Not saying you did, but want to be clear. Grant has two brothers, one in the well, and the older brother who won't let Grant help him. We did not see one way or another what happened to the brother in the well. Remember that a few episodes back Grant talked about a brother that beat the crap out of him and his little brother (episode 3) and that's what lead him on the path to SHIELD. Also, this episode aired immediately after Thor: The Dark World came out in theaters. That's why is started with a clean up.
