I hadn't thought of it like that, but you're right!

Onno Smits

We already had certain characters dynamics set earlier in the show so I like how this episode scrambles everyone and their roles. Ward flys the plane(May's role) Coulson treats May's wound (Simmon's role) Fitz takes on Coulson's role (supporting Skye) Skye takes on Ward's role and Simmons takes on Skye's role father daughter dynamic with coulson).

And...here...we...go! I'm so happy to join you already in progress!

Was great waking up from my nap to see this episode, the episode hit on every character showing how far they have came so far, the emotions involved are great. Loved the whole way the story unfolded with the train and Jemma shines in this episode. She became one of my favorite characters early on.

This is my favourite episode of S1 - I love the way it's told, there's loads of good character moments and there's quite a bit of comedy. As it was ten years ago now (near enough), I don't recall for certain if the next episode was the following week or if there was a break - the second half of S1 (after the 1x10 midseason finale) had a rather irritating release schedule where every one or two episodes there would be a break of one or two weeks. Regardless, for a lot of S1 I was rewatching everything from the pilot to the current episode in between each new episode - so I've seen S1 a lot!

This episode is a banger! Lots of fun dialog, a really great narrative plot device with seeing the events from different perspectives, a fun mini-mystery with the "disappearing" train, and after all that we've only had 30 minutes and still have 15 minutes remaining to spend some time agonizingly slowly murdering Skye! I 100% agree with what you said; this episode feels way longer than it is (in a good way). MCU connections: When Coulson is chewing out Ward, he threatens him by saying: "I'll reassign you to Barrow, Alaska and you'll spend the rest of your years doing night shift guarding Blonsky's cryo-cell." He's talking about Emil Blonsky, aka "Abomination", the villain from "The Incredible Hulk" (2008) movie, played by Tim Roth. You got to tick off another one of Stan Lee's cameos! That's getting to be a very rare occurrence now. 😢 Fans of the comics would know the name Deathlok as it's been in the Marvel comics since the 1970's.

That thumbnail you chose is probably my favorite part of a simply GREAT episode. "Prostitutes? PLURAL??"
