2024-10-12 12:06:10 +0000 UTCFour months later, having finally imported a Blu-ray (the US release is out of print) and watched it, great movie. I know some people find it blasphemous to suggest this, but I feel like there's room for a contemporary remake to say something about our culture today (and perhaps come up with something better for Martha -- the trick is how to thread the needle so that there can be closure without essentially hand-waving away everything the characters were put through to get there). One thing that I see wasn't mentioned here: the little kleptomaniac Rosalie, whose thievery gives Mary the fodder to force Rosalie to lie for her, was played by Veronica Cartwright, who would grow up to play Lambert in Alien.
