The 13th Warrior (1999) ✦ Full-Length Watchalong Reaction

I hope you all have had/are having a good Monday! This week is going to be on the heavy side with movie watchalongs, so get your popcorn ready. 🍿 I had to shimmy around the order of things a little bit on my end. Clerks II was not working out on the only platform here in Canada that it's available on (it's a platform with ads and well... yeah. It was very buggy!) I ended up purchasing a DVD copy (gasp) so I can get the reaction done. And a little while ago I grabbed a DVD reader for my PC for emergencies like this. 😉 Will be fun to figure out.

So... The 13th Warrior - this is a movie that I had NEVER heard of until this request came through my Reactr page. Thank you! (If the requestor would like to make themselves known to the community, just leave a comment!) [Direct link here.]

Thanks everyone! And cheers to a good week ahead!

Two requests actually came through yesterday because the two people somehow submitted their requests within 10 seconds of each other and the site wasn't able to prevent it. I've let them (Reactr owners) know so they can work in a patch for that LOL. So it might be a bit longer before it opens again. 😂

Holy cow, that Reactr slot gets snatched up *quick*! 😆 Glad it's ended up working out so well for you (and us).

Ahh good to know! I am interested in reading the book one day.

Great book, I think this is one of the better Crichton book to movie adaptations.

So interesting! Enjoy the reaction!

The story behind how this film was shot is INCREDIBLE. Total mess. Way over budget. The studio hires Crichton to start directing WHILE John McTiernan is still directing it. They're literally shooting scenes at the same time, actors are going from one shot to the next... hence mismatched styles and everything. But it has it's moments. The moment when he starts to learn the language and McTiernan is kinda remixing what he did in Hunt for Red October with the change over there. Smart. Cast is charismatic. Also the book has a better name... EATERS OF THE DEAD. They even released a trailer with that name. Thanks for giving me a reason to revisit this again.

Excellent! Enjoy!

Sorry for no movie watchalongs last week! I'm definitely making up for it this week though. 😉

Groovy! I’ve been waiting for something to watch round these parts. I know I’ve seen this, but possibly not since it came out, so this should be fun! 😉

I'll be interested to check this one out with you! It's one of those that I always meant to check out but other things came first and then I just gradually forgot about it.
