let's gooooo feels good starting season 2 with you

Great job on these reactions! They throw a lot at you these first two episodes. A lot of new names/faces, a new status quo as to what everyone's role in S.H.I.E.L.D. is, and then seeding all the new storylines for this season. It feels very chaotic (by design, I'd guess), but you caught all the important stuff. I wasn't surprised you'd forgotten about Coulson etching the symbols. It's weird they didn't put that in the "previously on..." montage. Maybe that'd be too much of a spoiler or something? Either way, it was firmly re-established now. The VFX on Creel ("Absorbing Man") was extremely impressive for the time, especially for network TV. It totally holds up still, IMHO.

Got introduced to some new great characters, some short lived would loved to seen more Heartley(Lucy Lawless/Xena). Hunter is really fun adding another dynamic to the crew. Mack being a new tech/mechanic buddy to help with Fitz. The coolness of the character Creel (Absorbing Man) and his powers are really fun and the guy they got playing him is a beast. It is truly hard seeing Fitz change like this but it makes the dynamic of the show better with the addition of Mack with Simmons gone seeing Fitz learn and adept to it. Over all great beginning to season 2 could say much more :)

The Chloe Bennet with bangs season is here! I’m a 13 year veteran in the Air Force so watching General Talbot is especially hilarious. There are some that talk and act just like him —loved Coulson’s impression of him 😂

Long comments are fine! Thanks for all the info!

Back with AoS! Quite an action packed pair of episodes to open the season! Lots of changes - new base, new faces, Skye's a field agent now, etc. They really toy with us with Fitz - you prepare for something bad when we first see him, then he seems OK for a few moments before we see that he is different now - and then twisting the knife at the end of the episode by revealing it's worse than we think. So we have several open storylines starting/continuing from last season - the Obelisk, Coulson's carving (which is apparently related), Skye's origin & father, and the ongoing Hydra threat. Not going to comment further, other than to say that from now on AoS will be faster paced, as unlike S1 we don't have to tread water (so to speak) waiting for CA:TWS. Regarding timelines, the first three seasons run pretty much in real (broadcast) time across the course of the season, although obviously episode timelines can vary - the best markers for how much time has passed are where the films fit in to the season. Iain really gets to show off his acting chops from this point on - he did extensive background research on brain injuries like Fitz's to inform his performance. He definitely looked a lot younger last season - I kinda suspect that was a deliberate choice for Fitz & Simmons to make the characters seem younger. Iain & Elizabeth were both 26 at the start of this season - Fitz & Simmons canonically share the same birthdays as their actors (which, with the exception of Skye, is also true of the other mains AFAIK). Chloe is the baby of the group at 21 at the start of this season - she (famously) lied about how old she was when auditioning, as Skye is meant to be older. We also get a jump in VFX quality this season, as evidenced by Creel and the effects of the Obelisk - not to say that S1's VFX were bad (I think they were pretty good, and they're definitely a step up from a few other superhero shows that were airing at this time), but occasionally they were a little obvious. PS. Sorry for the essay!

Ep 2: The guy with Fitz is called Mack who the actor hilariously is named Henry SIMMONS. So, either way Fitz bonds with a Simmons. The wall had a bucket of paint next to it so yes it gets redone. Skye's father showed up this episode with Raina. He had blood on his hands last season finale, and we see him wipe away blood this episode with a cloth. So, he is connected with the obelisk. He is played by Kyle MacLachlan known for his role in Twin Peaks. Raina is able to touch it which was foreshadow when creel grabbed the stone from her earlier and touched her hand and nothing happened to her. Hunter and Mack are great additions to the team and it will be fun learning more about them.

There are other details like the in 1945 Peggy found the Blue body used for the GH formula. I didn’t even catch that detail

That episode is the moment he realized his love for her subconsciously so it is fitting that he uses that image to feel her love guiding him.

EP 1: Usually around 6 months happen between seasons. Like others have pointed out Creel is the guy that lost to Matt's father in Daredevil. Seems he got an upgrade after losing that fight. There are other details like the in 1945 Peggy found the Blue body used for the GH formula. You could see her close the lid to the container it was in. May at the end of last season was willing to train Skye so now we see a trained Skye becoming more May-like. Lucy Lawless famously played Xena so it is sad to see her only last one episode of Shield. The Fitz twist always gets to me and i love reactors' shocked faces as the realization hits.

the name creel sounds familiar to you because you've already heard it in daredevil. He was the one who fought Matt's father.

David Fürstenberg

I don't know if anybody has pointed this out to you yet, but this outfit Fitz pictured Simmons in is the same outfit that she was wearing when she jumped out of the 'bus' in season 1x06 (FZZT)
