“Wolf” played by Jed the Wolfdog is the reason I grew up wanting my own wolf. RIP to your Natty and Jed the Wolfdog. You have a beautiful home country KL, I always enjoy your excitement and enthusiasm for your hometown 🇨🇦 Thank you for your request and to KL for sharing her first watch with us, it was a pleasure revisiting my childhood in good company with others.

Didn’t everyone have a crush on Meredith Salenger in the 80’s 😜 I used to get her and Justine Bateman mixed up all the time 😆😆😆

Talk about a blast from the past, I loved this movie as a kid! I was very much what you would call a “tomboy” and I wanted to be Natty and go on cross country adventures with my trusty pocket knife and my wits to guide me 😜😆 Good memories and great movie! Can’t wait to see KL’s reaction!

Honestly, I know they constantly use western Canada as a stand in for the Western US for many things set 100 years or more ago. But I had no idea how much of this movie was filmed in Canada. Your reaction gave it a whole new dimension to me. I first saw this when I was 10. I enjoy family adventure movies with characters befriending animals, aliens, or giant robots. I definitely had a little crush on Meredith Salenger after seeing it. And fun fact, she cameos in a 2000’s Disney movie as Natalie Gann that had my whole family screaming when we saw it. I’ll just leave it at that. However, in 2009, I hadn’t thought of the movie in years, when it just popped into my head at the sight of that rascally puppy, and she was named and had to come home. Now the movie carries so much more weight for me and my daughters. I’ll be honest hearing the name Natty said so often was a little hard, but it was satisfying seeing this movie again, with both fresh eyes and such excellent commentary. I did Google it, John Cusuck is only 4 years older than Meredith, but the moment they kiss…um. Yeah. We need to chalk it up to innocence. One of the things we lose in society nowadays is innocence. We ascribe so much to situations because of what we know now, but simpler times did exist and it’s good to be reminded of that. Anyway, thanks for taking that journey with me. I hope we find another fan of the movie out there. And maybe make some new ones too.
