I hope you're all having a fab Tuesday. We continue with the MCU today and here is the first half of Ms. Marvel with the rest to follow tomorrow. Thanks for taking the time! I'm looking forward to your comments and thoughts (and Easter Egg mentions as I'm sure I've missed quite a few). [Direct link here.]
Cheers,

I still love the fact that she's not afraid to tell Feige when he gets things "wrong" being as much of a comic nerd as he was when he grew up. I also love that Iman has now written a run of Ms. Marvel comics

It is very common in the US for the cops to be called by annoying neighbors when someone is having a large/loud party. If they're called and kids are there with alcohol, well, then there's big trouble for the kids and possibly parents.

Watching Ms. Marvel was a special experience for me because it was the first show that I was able to watch with my kids where we were all equally excited to watch. It is not a show for kids specifically, but it is a show that has a broader appeal for viewers of all ages, since Kamala is younger and so relatable. I was not much older than them when i became a Marvel fan, so to see them so invested was amazing.
I like that Marvel is able to switch up the types of stories they tell (dark & gritty, mysteries, fantasy, coming of age, etc) in the same universe. But that also increases the odds that not every story will connect with everyone.

The best character to come out of the post Endgame era is by far Kamala Khan. I don't know if it's the character or more so the actress. Iman grew up watching the first Iron Man as a kid and the rest of the MCU. Kamala's fandom for Captain Marvel is the same as Iman's for Iron Man. She is probably the first actor of the new generation of MCU actors that will have grown up watching the films. And she embodies the fangirl/fanboy in all of us. I think that genuine enthusiasm carries through to her performance and is what makes her endearing to watch and the best part of The Marvels movie.

The thing I love about Kamala's mom is you can believe she's a mom! Her worrying and her insistence her daughter not do certain things is such a protective parent thing, only to find out Mudeeba rocks and had her own wild life! Isn't that the way most overprotective moms are? They've been there and done that LOL
The testing out the powers was so well done and I also like that she started out with a homemade outfit based on her personal hero. I feel like that's exactly what anyone would do, especially at a young age. One thing I can respect about Marvel is they know when to listen to negativity and when not to. People bashed Captain Marvel left and right but it still soared past a billion dollars and inspired young girls everywhere, which is represented perfectly in Ms Marvel. Young girls need heroes and role models too and Kamala's so pure and kind that she's exactly what the world needs even if she doesn't realize it or believe it herself.

Oh, and yes…at the beginning of the episode they found the bangle on a blue arm in a TEN RINGS tomb, ICYMI. 😉

I don't know if you noticed, but the kid falling out of the minaret was wearing Nakia's trainers, so was the shoe thief.
There are so many good characters in this show. Kamala's family are amazing. Bruno is totally Kamala's Ride or Die friend who'll be there through thick and thin. Nakia has such a wholesome friendship with Kamala which is now unfortunately strained by not telling her the secret (something Kamala looked to be about to do before Nakia was upset by the "Night Light" video making Kamala reconsider). Also Sheikh Abdullah has some brilliant moments, like the "Good is a thing you are" line.

Wasn’t sure if you recognized them, but the DODC is the antagonistic federal agency introduced in Homecoming, with agent Cleary being the main instigator from Spider-Man No Way Home. Additionally, those drones they are using are the ones confiscated from Stark Industries in NWH. 🕸️
Oh, and there’s a brief drive by from a TRUST A BRO moving truck during the closing credits. That one still makes me giggle, bro. 😉

It's funny you mentioning how you'd want so much of the merch from AvengerCon for yourself as Iman had an assistant stuffing loads into a bag for her to take home. The fact that Iman was a huge Marvel fan before being cast meant that in so many ways she is the character she plays.

Kamala has an interesting comic book origin that they changed for the MCU.

Scattered thoughts…
The line “whatever mountain you climb you don’t have to do it alone” is very sweet. Love the chemistry of the Kamala and her family and friends. Also love Iman Vellanis facial expressions, they feel very natural.

When the trailer for this show first came out I was like "ehhhh", like I was for Ant-Man but I was pleasantly surprised. Iman Vellani is a great Ms. Marvel, A-1 casting. SN: Love the hair
