Mannnnn this show keeps getting more and more unsettling, but still so here for it! Truly does not feel like a Marvel production in any way (which I love). [Direct link here.]
Looking forward to your comments on this and Ep 8 will be shared tomorrow!

A few weeks SINCE watching this show, and I also forget how crazy it is. 😂 Can't wait for your thoughts on the episodes to come!

Jeez, a few weeks of not watching this fucking show and I forgot how crazy it is and what kind of vibe I'm supposed to expect. Reuben's death at the start thoroughly shocked me, and then it just got crazier from there. The scene in the precinct was insane and I SO hope that SOMEONE from it will remember and/or realise that it wasn't a "joke"... If, theoretically, they still remember it, surely they would have to eventually come to their senses about how "funny" it all really was. Immediately after, the scene of her looking for the "present" stressed me out with that really well selected music and then the scene with Reuben's sister, despite her not being all that nice, broke my heart. Damn. Did not expect this this evening, but now I know I should have. What the hell.
I'll definitely make sure to keep making my way through this show sooner rather than later.

Simpson pretty much told Trish that he wants Kilgrave dead...and then Trish made it clear that she wants him captured. Pretty sure he's just subverting the interests of both Trish and Jessica (and poor Hope) and being all "he made me feel out of control and weak, so I'm gonna kill him so I can prove that I'm not". Some people cannot handle being a victim and he's one of them, I think.

Came here to say this...Mahoney was the only officer that Matt trusted to have the crooked cop who killed his partner that Owlsley had stashed (Hoffman, I think? Or was that the partner? IDK) turn himself in to.

"Not made for children" is definitely an understatement! 🤣 The main themes of this season to me seem to be addiction, obsession, abuse, and rape (both in the literal and psychological sense). I've had to start rewatching something lighthearted to balance out watching this with you! 😅

Remember when I said David Tennant's performances could be a ride or a descent into hell? Welcome aboard the roller coaster. Kilgrave is the death drop section of the coaster in which you just plummet and hold on for dear life.

Jessica's so relatable... that moment on the railroad track when, for a moment, she looks at the train barreling toward her and has that brief look of "go ahead, end it, please, end it"... trauma doesn't just screw up a perfectly good day, it screws up your head every day. It has no conscience, no mercy, it just exists like a tumor and eats away at you. That's what I LOVE about these street-level heroes... the majority of us can't relate to fighting world-ending threats, but we CAN relate to the helplessness that goes along with corrupt politicians, guilt, regret, psychological trauma, grief, loss... Captain America and the Avengers were heroes FOR the people while Daredevil, Jessica, Luke, and Danny are all heroes BECAUSE of the people. I hope that makes sense! LOL
I could talk in circles all day about Punisher too but we'll wait until you get to his story lol

You missed our first connection to Daredevil. Officer Brett Mahoney, the one who released Jessica in the interrogation room, is the officer friend of Matt and Foggy. They bring his mom stinky cigars. I know they mentioned Hell's Kitchen in previous episodes but it's a neighborhood in Manhattan so it's not a direct reference.

Unsettling is definitely the right word that describes Kilgrave. His twisted personality is very entertaining and makes him a great villain but that ick is brutal.
It is not a family friendly show and I like that Marvel has made different programs that tackle different tones and subjects. That is what makes this universe feel so unique.
We meet Trish's Mom and we get to see a young Jess and Trish for a bit at the end.

Oh, nice!!! Just to comment before watching along with you, yeah...unsettling is a good word to describe this show. I had genuinely forgotten just how unsettling this was, especially Kilgrave. Like...HOLY SHIT.
On a side note, how fun would it be to get Loki and Kilgrave together in an episode of WHAT IF...? ;)
