HAHAH yeah that part made me do a double-take internally.

I wouldn't be surprised if Matt is firm anti-kill because of Stick. If we have it in our minds that we don't want to turn into someone who raised us, then we'll do everything to not be like that person.

kaiielle

Don't worry about comment edits! Yes, Karen caring so much about Frank is so nice to see, I appreciated her trying to get Foggy on board as well.

kaiielle

Honestly even though I love Matt, I am not sure it will happen. I really want it to, though!

kaiielle

Yes, Wesley. RIP Wesley. 😂 God, really hoping a bunch of truths come out with these two! Thanks for letting me know what you enjoyed in the reaction! I def feel like this episode had some good facial expressions.

Matt's conversation with Karen does not reflect well on him. The pause before answering whether he believes in what the "Devil of Hell's Kitchen' does gives the impression that he's trying to give the answer that paints himself in the best light rather than what he actually believes, and then he has the gall to say he believes in the law!? Matt, if you *actually* believed in the law, you wouldn't be going out delivering vigilante justice every night.

Sometimes a mix of both at the same time!

We all have our crosses to bear, we all get dealt our fair share of trauma...if we're lucky enough to live long enough anyway. I just hit the unlucky lottery of multiple traumas, disabilities, etc. My dad thought he knew better than professionals, too, lol. Refused to let me get dxed with ASD as a kid because Autism is a medical DQ from the Corps. and he thought he could train it out of me like boot camp. Bahaha. Notsomuch. Yay. More trauma. Laugh or cry, man. Laugh or cry.

Damn man, kids be crazy. I can not stand people that think they know better than professionals. My dad's one of them. He refuses to go to a mechanic that doesn't "agree" with his own personal assessment or go to a doctor that doesn't have a "Christian" background. I guess only secular doctors push pills (yeah, right). Sorry you had to go through that, that's a scary thing, especially for a child to experience. Of course that kind of trauma sticks with you.

Yeah, I get that...it's just one of my kinda personal hills to die on, ha. So many people misunderstand what PTSD is/often insinuate that it's something only combat vets/first responders/etc. can get and that makes it very frustrating for folks like me who have it to be taken seriously. I've literally had people tell me "well, you weren't in war, so you don't have PTSD, you just don't like fireworks" Uh...no, I had teenagers shoot bottlerockets directly at my head when I was 6...and now when I hear them (or anything the sounds like them...backfiring car, etc.) , I duck and cover like a combat vet and once tried to dig a tunnel to safety on a beach on July 4th, and nearly got arrested one year when some kids decided it would be fun to set some off in my driveway three days after the holiday, but...sure, Jane, I just don't like them...you must know better than medical professionals.

Rat MacKay

very true, I probably should have been more specific. I just appreciated how he stood up for combat vets that have it and didn't want to sign off on some easy plea bargain.

Frank does have PTSD...just not exclusively from combat. Losing his family the way he did is a 1 way ticket to PTSD-ville and, honestly, that combined with his service is likely CPTSD. I suspect we'll have lots more to chat about when we get to his show.

First of all, the guy saying Punisher was like Son of Sam is a bit of an exaggeration. Punisher's way more dangerous than that guy, plus Punisher has a code. Secondly, the music playing while Punisher's being brought into the courtroom was everything. That's some good hype-up music. Even if they did try the PTSD defense, more than likely someone would bring up that he was shot in the head, therefore causing insanity which means he's too dangerous to ever be in the public again. I admire Frank for turning down the PTSD defense. That right there shows that he DOES have compassion for other people, especially if they deserve it. Kind of loving the metaphor of "dirty" people having a train car full of dirt. That's pretty hilarious. Reyes had a pretty convincing opening statement. However, she left out the part where these people were all career criminals and mobsters that have hurt countless others and escaped "justice". Frank Castle should be getting a medal. That's the truth. Foggy delivered a fantastic statement considering he's leaned on Matt all this time. He's smarter and braver than he gives himself credit for. I'm starting to wonder if Matt's no-kill policy hinges on being raised and trained by Stick who, as we all know from season 1, has zero hesitancy in killing someone. Not to mention his history with Elektra. The flashbacks we've seen make it seem like violence is a huge turn-on for her. Matt doesn't want to become like them, maybe? Pretty sure Batman said once that if he allowed himself to go down that road, he'd never stop. It must be the same with Matt. There's always just as many excuses to do something as there are not to do something. I love how angry Foggy got with Matt and let it all out, finally! Matt needed that wake-up call big-time. Karen has every right to be as pissed as she is and so does Foggy. So you walk into a bad-guy hideout and find a big-ass bottomless pit. Do you grab spelunking gear or run? Roll for Initiative.

The return of the d00m music for Frank...yesssss. I think it's interesting that the 2 lawyers defending him are white dudes and the prosecution is a woman and man, both people of colour...but during the jury interviews, the white dudes hate him and the women/POC are pro Frank. Karen continuing to be a badass makes my heart happy. Every scene with her and Frank is just top tier, but that scene with Foggy where she tries to give him perspective on Frank is one of the highlights of the season for me. Also...that convo with Matt...yeah...looks like those elephants in the room are starting to trumpet and make themselves known...gonna have to start talking about them soon. Karen is Team Frank, too, lol. *Hears Mr. Steal Your Girl playing in the distance* Yes, Frank is my fave part of season 2, but the way that multiple people call Matt on his bullshit is also what makes it my fave. Yeah, Frank kicks it off on the rooftop, but everyone seems to get their licks in this season and I'm here for it. (Sorry if you happened to read this before I was done. I actually kept updating as I watched rather than make a bunch of comments later)

The conversation between Matt and Elektra at his apartment after the train yard; in it he asks why she never came back. She explains because she felt he deserved something better. It would seem she was keeping him in the dark about awful stuff and keeping him emotionally distant just like how he's keeping Karen in the dark and emotionally distant. Interesting parallel. I wonder if he will learn from Elektra's mistake and let Karen fully into his life, his two halves.

Carl Johnson

What he said.

Moments I loved in your reaction. Your face when Matt and Karen realized their morals don't align. Your reaction to hearing Electra fucked shit up for the trial 10/10 and you saying you want her gone. Your proud face at foggy calling Matt out on his bullshit. Fun fact we heard Foggy mention Electra in a flashback last season but not her name. He asked Matt what ever happened to that Greek girl you were dating so the seeds were already being planted for Electra. If you remember Karen has killed a criminal (Wesley, Fisk's right hand man) last season so it is not surprising that her morals have shifted to justify her own actions. She knows from personal experience that sometimes it is necessary to kill the bad guy. Ironically Karen's morals are closer to Frank's and Electra's but it also means if she believes in what Frank is doing then it would be easier to handle what Matt is doing because Frank is just the extreme version of Matt's justice. But on the flip side Matt is completely against those morals so he can't believe that she even entertains the idea of killing as justice.

I’m a bit behind, but I can’t wait to get here. I recall this being a pretty good one.
