The Punisher: Two Dead Men [1x02] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Quick note: this is my 900th watchalong video that I've shared to Patreon. 🫨 (Not individual episodes/movies, since sometimes two episodes have been in one video.) That's pretty crazy! My first watchalong was shared on Jan 27, 2022 which was 1,300 days ago. This means that there's been one watchalong video every 1.4 days, on average.

Please enjoy Ep 2 of The Punisher! Looking forward to your comments. 😊 [Direct link here.]

The Punisher: Two Dead Men [1x02] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

I've seen the part of the podcast where Deb shows him DND. But that's it. I knew watching any more could end up throwing me in spoiler territory haha

Gait recognition is absolutely a thing...not widely employed for surveillance yet in the West, though. While mine is not technological, my recognition of people by their walks saves me a lot of awkward interactions. I have a form of face blindness...people (for the most part, there are exceptions) are stored in my memory as like...minimalist portraits. I remember the broad strokes and striking details of what people look like and recognize people I interact with regularly by their clothing and hair styles...and how they walk. Before I started paying attention to how people walked, I often got the "gee, don't say hi" when I would see a co-worker or friend outside of an environment where I expected to see them, not recognize them, and walk right past. Now I can recognize people from a greater distance than I could even potentially make out details of their face. Frank and Karen...yeah, I ship it. Always have, always will...and, pretty sure Bernthal does, too. In an interview that he did with her on his podcast, they briefly spoke of how, under the original plan for a different series, a number of characters weren't supposed to be there and he was basically like "why would I (Frank) be there if not for Karen?" Their chemistry is insane...as people and as characters. There is nothing but admiration flowing both ways. I would sit and watch Deb and Jon just talk together for hours...and probably years as Frank and Karen. At some point (when it's spoiler-free for you) I'll link the video of the podcast because I think it might make you appreciate both of them even more. Random aside, but I believe I heard that Ebon and Jon will both be making their Broadway debut next year in a stage production of Dog Day Afternoon...and that is something I have to start saving for like...now.

Did you have to re-sync? I edited out as much buffering as I could find. I might have missed a second or two one. But I got the long ones and it shouldn't have required re-syncing as I removed them the same way I remove pauses during reactions when I have to step away from my desk briefly.

Totally worth watching despite the buffering and my personal re-synchs. You nailed it again. Karen and Frank, their chemistry is so good. I mean, "chemistry" doesn't have to be romantic or physical, there's still buddy-cop chem and co-worker chem and familial chem and mutual post-trauma chem. The things for me here in this episode is how much they care about the other person's well-being and how much respect they have for the other's capabilities. And the big thing is whether or not they are talking about it, they're still showing it. Whatever kind of chemistry they have, it is so fun to watch. And yeah, I love how the problems everyone has here might not be simple, but they are very human. No sci-fi, no supernatural, no fantasy. So far, Frank's world has been a very real world. If your dad hasn't seen it, drop my name and tell him I personally said "Jon Bernthal is my Frank Castle." (I mean, your dad would put no weight on the opinion of someone he never met, but maybe the choice of the words themselves could convince him.)

David Leiberman aka Micro is a Marvel character known for his computer skills and hacking abilities. We heard his name in passing before in Agents of Shield 2x7. Skye of course a hacker knows of him and he helped her find crime scene pictures of a Tahiti patient who was killed. Love Karen appearance and love their friendship. Frank is always prepared but micro caught him off guard but once he learn more about him he got back on top lol.
