"I love that during his running scenes you can see it in his face that he is doing it all" I agree, and fun fact, during the rooftop scene there is a part where he jumps from a roof to another, catching himself on the ledge and pulling himself up before continuing to run. When he gets back up, before it cuts away you can see him hobble a little bit - he like shattered his leg or foot or something against the wall of the building he jumped against when he made that jump, so when he stood up to finish filming that shot with him continuing to run, he was standing on a broken leg. So yes, he is REALLY doing it, and he FULLY commits. Also I just want to say that I basically agree with your thoughts on ranking so far except I personally don't put this one as high as three and five, I think it may be exactly the most consistent one from beginning to end, but no one part of it stands out in my memory the way parts of the other movies do. I always have to stop and think for a minute about what actually happens in this movie and what makes it good. I do agree that the locations in this film are outstanding though, I actually saw this one in theaters, it was the first mission possible movie I ever saw, with the intent of taking this series seriously and seeing what all the fuss was about. Needless to say, as soon as I saw this movie, not only did I feel like I was missing a bunch of context for this story, but I wanted to see every other film immediately because I had no idea I was missing out a franchise that has so many cool things to offer.

I think this is the best action movie I have ever seen. It's probably sacrilege to say that compared to T2 and Die Hard, but of course, so much of what those directors did was practical, and this has CGI cars whizzing about. But still, the way Ethan has to keep making moral and tactical choices makes it gripping.

Technically, in a way, 3 onward have all been connected stories. Julia's kidnapping in 3, Brandt's guilt over being the unofficial bodyguard thinking she was dead, then Julia being used as leverage in Fallout. And of course Solomon ties to Rogue Nation. Maybe we can consider 3-6 all as one giant movie and rank them all as one entry in the #1 spot? Is that cheating? LOL For me, as far as 1-6 goes since that's what you've seen, I'd say 6-3-4-1-5-2, though that tends to change a lot every rewatch haha
