I think this year's Extra Life event will still very much be Wii-focused, but I'm looking forward to seeing the few Wii U titles that pop up. Hidden gems is a good way of putting it. I saw in Discord that you were on another game show! That's so, so cool. Just the act of being on more than one in your lifetime is neat, haha. Maybe one day I'll apply to something since I think that'd be a fun experience. Lots of stuff is occurring and the next Patreon video will be Big News™, but all good things. Thank you as always, Ben!

2022-10-03 19:35:51 +0000 UTCMal is generally an anxious person anyway, so flying in a post-pandemic world (especially one where she, too, was one of the only people on the plane in a mask) was a little concerning. But she was excited to see her family, and excited to get back home, and no illness one way or another, thankfully. Yeah, we've been told that the Partner Manager does not earn any sort of commissions or anything off of us, which I believe, they are simply hired by YouTube to increase the viewership of the channel. Even so, we still have to weigh everything they say because they're very YouTube-centric, and we have other platforms like Twitch and Patreon to consider. Overall they've been helpful, even if there's a few things we've opted to alter a bit because it made more sense for us (keeping all our behind-the-scenes things on Patreon, for instance). The VOD channel has honestly done better than I expected it to! We just crossed 7,000 subscribers over there, and that was a little surprising to me. I'm glad that there's a willingness to engage with the long-form content after the fact, whether it's folks reliving the streams again or watching them for the first time. More is coming soon, but I'm continuing to take a measured approach. We'll be discussing quite a few new things in the next Patreon video!

2022-10-03 19:31:59 +0000 UTCI haven’t been able to watch much the past month but I did see the VOD for Overcooked and glad to see you had a good time with it – it is very chaotic. It was only when you mentioned the Earthbound race that I checked the date of it and I can’t believe that’s already close to 5 years ago. But glad that the new TV would make it easier to do those things in the future. And sounds like things are shaping up well for Extra Life – I think in Wii U there will definitely be some hidden gems we aren’t expecting. Hope things continue to go well as you balance things and I’m glad that with each week, that third albatross is steadily being removed. I’ve been keeping well – I got to film another game show over here in July and then that came out on TV the past week! Great to relive that experience, having met a great group of people doing it. I know even since this video came out a lot of exciting things have been happening the past couple of weeks – may the rest of the month be good to you both! Ben

2022-09-21 20:34:54 +0000 UTCGlad you guys had a good time while Alex and Hayley were visiting. Alex is a machine getting so many of the bookcases done so quickly. I remember getting frustrated when putting my own together. I’m sure you are all really excited about the 4 of you all being so close together which is awesome. I can’t imagine myself moving so quickly on a decision for a lease, but I guess you have to at the moment with the way housing is, it’s the same here in Australia. Even with the increased connectivity of online, it’s not the same as seeing someone face to face. How did Mal find her first flight in this post pandemic world? I just had my own first flight since 2019, very surreal and kind of weird to be back on a plane. Australia has just removed the mask requirements for flights which had me concerned, I was one of not many with a mask on. Going to be a busy month for you with guests, always nice to hear. Interesting the partner manager is pushing to get you to use the Youtube membership stuff. I guess it comes about by trying to maximise everything you guys are doing on the Youtube side of things. Will be interesting to see how it goes. Very grateful for the transparency over what the Youtube membership will contain though. The Skyrim highlights have been really interesting, Dan has done an amazing job cutting them together. I would be interested to know how the uptake of VODs has gone on the VOD channel from your point of view. It’s kind of a different way to see content, very similar to long form but I find myself breaking it up into chunks around other jobs that I’m doing. Interesting to hear about the future plans take a more concrete shape. Glad to hear it is moving in the direction that you want. But also glad to hear that you are taking a measured approach to it after the wind back at the start of the year, the self care is important. Hope you guys have a wonderful September with all your visitors.
