That being said, it can only do so much.
Our narrator had essentially settled into a happy, if less spicy, relationship with his wife when Bella moved in. Once she got comfortable after a bad marriage and the pounds started to settle on, Lori and her husband would slowly discover that "I want my husband to want to sleep with other women" and "I want to fuck a fat woman" are not all that incompatible.
And really, it's not like Bella pays much in rent...

At least the branch of that story there with the wife who tosses out the husband for fooling around with her fattening sister in law and then proceeds to angrily get even fatter than her sister just to spite her husband.
