Weekly Update #99

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TewCPi92ro

Not much to say this week, and I'm trying to actually get this done before going to sleep so that I don't wake up and forget to do it until it's night again, so let's just jump into the things.

...

I typed that before posting the weekly PDFs and then falling asleep before proceeding to forget about this after waking up.

Anyways, only one more week until the 100th update!

Now, memes 'nd things:

Weekly Worksheet: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1uglHOdHatl23xiImd_a4KBjLwYezfgi9

12 hours, 18,505 words. Much more normal this time since there weren't any particularly short chapters this week.

The True Endgame

Gave some time to Eva this week since she needed some more, and next week it'll be Aza getting some more attention! And while this chapter might've been extra long, it wasn't extra long enough to make up for last week's extra short chapter, so that means I'll just have to write another extra long TTE chapter for next week! It's time for some more video game-y stuff to go with all the fluff.

Ero Dungeon Online

Lily has been out of the picture for a little bit, but be warned, for the perfection that is Lily shall return. She has been growing stronger all this time - waiting for the opportune moment to strike.

Soon.

The Queen's Hound

Fighty stuff and bad news. Woofen getting to bring back a bit of who he used to be as a human, but applying that stuff for good now. Well, subjectively good. Either way, I've been planning on showing off a bit of his former skills, and I think I did kinda a good job of that with this last chapter? It's hard to really show off this sort of stuff when writing in first person PoV.

Lazy Dragon Queen

Space Karens, fluff, Window, and Cami. What more do you really need in life? Anyways, next week is a new boss fight! And I plan on us actually managing to make it through the next three stages + boss fight before this volume is over. I actually thought I'd already be done with that by this point, but hey, that just means there's even more story to write which means that you'll have LDQ to read for even longer!

CORE

There's a bunch I could say, but that would be massive spoilers for anybody not on the $10 tier who might be reading this. We're approaching the end of this second volume, though!

In Closing

Something I'm really torn on lately is first-person vs third-person narration. It's hard to describe any of my MCs being badasses when writing them in first person. It works in the case of first-person present-tense narration like with TQH and the former EDO, but I don't really plan on ever writing present tense again for a regular novel. I really, really prefer past tense now. It just flows so much better to me. But then we have the problem of any narrator describing their actions sounding like a narcissist. That only works in CORE's case since - well, he is a narcissist. It makes perfect sense for him show off and brag about how awesome he was. But people like Damian and Drake - they're not really the types to go and narrate every single little badass move that they do. In the cases where they do narrate some of what they do, I feel like it would still have a greater impact to see it from a third-person perspective instead.

Now, I'm not going to change how I'm writing any of my current stories or anything. I'm mostly thinking about this in regard to how I write future stories. I have three different series I'm working on and off of right now, but progress is slow and I keep restarting because I just can't be sure of which style I want to write in. I love first-person, and I feel like most of my readers probably prefer first-person as well, but third-person allows me to really show off all the characters more properly. It also lets me give characters other than the protagonist more focus without having to do an out-of-the-ordinary third person chapter in an otherwise-first-person story.

I dunno. I'll figure it out. Maybe I'll do a poll or something on here to ask people for their opinions.

Anyways, that's all for this week! Thank you for your continued support, especially in this time of financial uncertainty for all of us, and please look forward to next week's chapters!
