Sales Tax Stuff

If you haven't heard it from some other Patreon creator you're pledged to or from some other source or anything, more people are going to start being charged sales tax starting on the 1st. I thought that, since this is kind of important, Patreon would have reached out to people by now through email.

Nope.

Instead, Patreon wants us creators to take the brunt of any negative feedback and are justifying it with, "We really think they’ll appreciate hearing it from you first!" Why I have to do their job for them, I don't know.

Here's the generic copy-paste they want us to use:  https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043054911#talktopatrons

Here's a post talking about the legality of it:  https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043054911-New-Sales-Tax-Requirements-effective-July-1st-2020

I'd rather only have to do my own writing instead of Patreon's writing, but apparently they expect me to inform people of changes to their own platform since they don't want to do it themselves. If this causes financial insecurity or anything for you, please don't feel guilty if you have to unpledge, especially since we're still in the middle of a pandemic and all that.

Anyways, enough of doing Patreon's job for now.
