About DirectStorage
DirectStorage is a Microsoft API designed to improve I/O performance for gaming, enabling faster loading times and reducing CPU overhead.
Patreon supporters can access 3dmigoto that integrates DirectStorage. It enables loading custom GDDS format, which leverages GDeflate compression for textures. The benefits include:
Significantly smaller storage sizes on disk.
Faster loading, less stuttering and higher FPS.
More information on performance can be found here and please review its limitations.
Texture++ Finale and Finale 4K comes in GDDS format.
If you prefer not to use 3dmigoto with DirectStorage, GDDS decompressor is available. This tool converts textures to DDS format for use with GIMI v7.0, at the cost of performance and storage space.
Download and Installation
Downloads for Texture++ Finale and 3dmigoto with DirectStorage are in the Cloud Supporter Rewards post.
Texture++ Finale 4K is available in the Ultra Enthusiast Rewards post.
Two downloading methods are offered and provide identical files under ideal conditions.
OneDrive provides the complete Mod in a single zip archive. While this method is straightforward, it is harder to ensure file integrity. Some decompression tools skip checksum verification for speed, and manually moving files can also introduce corruption.
Texture++ Installer was developed for those who wanted smaller downloads for updates or who experienced issues with OneDrive. It uses Hugging Face for cloud storage and only downloads files that are different from your local installation, allowing it to function as both a first-time installer and a repair tool. However, because it is a Python-based executable, it may trigger false-positive warnings from antivirus software. If you have concerns, you can run the installer in a virtualized environment like Windows Sandbox. It's also recommended to always download the latest version from the reward posts, as older releases may not function correctly.
If you download from OneDrive, extract the contents in zip archive to Mods folder. For Installer, simply follow the on-screen instructions.
As a bonus, here's the recommended way to launch 3dmigoto.
Troubleshooting
While Texture++ has been tested and validated on several different PCs, it is impossible to test for every setup and hardware configuration. Please use these troubleshooting tips to help resolve any issues you may encounter.
Some (but not all) textures appear black
This typically means 3dmigoto failed to load specific textures due to file corruption or missing files. To resolve this, use the Texture++ Installer to repair your installation and then restart your computer.
Paimon's face missing
Texture++ includes upscaled texture for Paimon's face, so this issue should not occur with correct Installation. The likely cause is an external "Fix all" script or another program modifying the Texture++ files. Review this post for more information. Using any program that alters the mod's files may cause it to break. All textures appear black
There are several potential causes:
Incorrect 3dmigoto: Loading the GDDS textures requires 3dmigoto with DirectStorage. GIMI or other 3dmigoto would not work.
File Corruption: The mod files may be entirely missing or corrupted. Use the Installer to perform a repair and then restart your computer.
Windows: DirectStorage relies on Windows dependencies. If those system files are corrupt, DirectStorage may fail to work. This may results in the custom 3dmigoto unable to launch or all textures failed to load.
Windows booting normally does not mean all its system files are in good shape.
Some have resolved such issues by updating or resetting their Windows installation. If you don't want to mess with Windows, use the GDDS decompressor to convert textures to the DDS format and load them with GIMI. You can also test the Mod on another PC first.
