What can art do

The core implementation is mostly complete, and we'll now focus on developing the music, graphics, maps, and other elements.

However, it's still riddled with bugs. Moreover, I can't even explain what kind of game it will be yet.

---

Japan is clearly heading toward decline right now.

News of bears attacking people is increasing, road collapses are frequent due to widespread infrastructure aging, and endangered fish are still being served at fast food restaurants (this is highly symbolic).

Most of it is a political problem, but social media's negative influence also plays a role. While some people prepare dazzling entertainment, many others, including children, are driven toward suicide.

I became a hikikomori due to mental illness and drew pictures as a hobby. That hobby has now become my income. However, I cannot deny that I myself am reinforcing the “hell of comparison.” Precisely because I recognize this, I must create this game, not just stick to comfortable illustrations. I guess, pure visual art is a bit too mature to prevent child suicide.

Lately, I've reduced my client work. I still take commissions from individuals and small organizations. What I decline are requests from major advertising agencies.

However, I'm unable to cover my living expenses. So today, I posted another article on Tumblr seeking patrons.

This game might take another year to complete, or perhaps a little longer.

Even so, I hope you'll continue supporting me within your means.

P.S.---

I tend to exaggerate everything I write. and, I always end up talking about heavy (taste) topics.

Since I have no motivation to write about anything else, it inevitably turns out that way.

But! In real life, I talk about more ordinary things I think I do.

But unlike dogs, cats, or familiar friends, text is difficult.

That's why I've drawn pictures, and writing this text is against my will.

But to fulfill the role I've been given, I have no choice but to do this.

It's almost like faith now (though I don't know what faith).

You can always share your heaviest thoughts with us, so that we can help carry them together! You're working hard to positively influence your cultural environment, and to keep your own head above water, so I hope that we can play a part (and that more people will assist as patrons)! Your game is, and will continue to be, something moving to me! All games will have bugs, and we rarely feel our games are finished developing (much like we always continue to grow and change ourselves), but the unique reflection of the creator can be found in the creation! This serene environment seems secluded at first, but the player brings motion into it and reveals its depths, and I feel your introspective thoughtfulness in that!

I want to suggest an animation or routine for walking down stairs. It is common in platformers to have the character "walk" downstairs using the same animation(s) as falling, which is unrealistic (and not in a way the game means to be). Similarly, when underneath a ceiling like @ 0:32, maybe hold a hand up against the ceiling like most people do when they are floating so close to an undersurface.
