A lot indeed did happen in the first episode, but that was needed for this story to start. Don't worry there will still be enough left fore the future episodes. The office man was indeed not nice to his boyfriend. But that's because he doesn't really love him on the first place, only the sex with him. But so far he didn't had the guts so far to break off with him. And now when he did meet the new art guy at the swimming pool he even lost more interest in his boyfriend. For now he's just the cold hearted businessman and now with the art guy on his mind.
