January Dormitory Diary Entry - Ura

Happy New Year! This is Ura.

Here's my January 2024 Dormitory Diary.

I spent about ten days back home in Ishikawa Prefecture at the end of last year. I had planned to spend the New Year's holiday drawing and relaxing at home, but on New Year's Day, we were unexpectedly hit by an earthquake. My family's home is in Kaga, so the damage was relatively minor, but it was the longest and most intense shaking I've ever felt. Honestly, it was quite frightening. After the quake, there were barely perceptible tremors every ten minutes or so, which was announced on TV and quite stressful.

However, the damage in the Noto area was severe, with partially collapsed houses, people trapped under buildings, and liquefaction causing structures to sink and roads to crack. It was hard to believe we were in the same Ishikawa. After the earthquake, I met up with some local friends. Everyone had felt the quake, but thankfully, they were all safe and well. I sincerely hope we don't experience another one anytime soon. Despite the unsettling start to the New Year, I was mostly satisfied with my time back home. The significant tremors only occurred on New Year's Day, so aside from some lingering anxiety about further quakes, I could relax for the rest of my visit.

On a different note, I really want to work on more key animation this year. I've mentioned this in my diaries time and again, but come April, I'll be entering my third year as an animator! Surely, it's about time they let me...? There's a major project for one of our titles this year, and I hope to be involved in it as a key animator. That's my goal for the year, and I'm determined to achieve it. With all that said, I'm looking forward to your continued support in 2024. 🐲

新年あけましておめでとうございます。浦です。

2024年1月の寮生日記です。

去年の年末から10日ほど実家のある石川県に帰省していました。

年末年始は家で絵を描いたり、だらだらしてゆっくり過ごそう、と思っていたのですが、元日にまさかの地震に遭いました。実家が加賀の方だったのでまだ被害が少なかったのですが、今まで感じたことのないような長く大きな揺れでした。正直かなり怖かったです。揺れがおさまった後も、感じるか感じないかの小さな揺れが10分に1度くらいのペースでテレビでアナウンスされていて、結構ストレスでした。

でも能登の方は家が半壊して人が建物の下敷きになっていたり、液状化現象で建物が沈んだり道路がひび割れたりと、本当に同じ石川なのだろうかと思う程の被害のようです。

地震の後は何人かの地元の友達と会ったりしました。みんな同じように揺れを感じていましたが、無事元気そうで安心しました。また地震が起こらないことを願いたいです。

元日から大変なことが起こってしまいましたが、今回の帰省は概ね満足できました。大きな揺れは元日の1回きりだったので、また揺れないか不安はありましたが後はゆっくり過ごすことができました。

話が変わりますが、今年こそは原画をやりたいです。事あるごとに原画をやりたいと日記で言っていますが、早いもので今年の4月からもうアニメーター3年目になります！流石に、やらせてくれても良いのでは...？

今年は自社のタイトルの大きな企画があるので、それに原画で関わりたいと思っています。今年の目標です。頑張ります。
