Die with Dignity - In your own tongue!

Hi everyone! As we recently said in the previous Patreon post, the app will soon be available in multiple languages but we need your support to make this happen!

We now have two volunteer roles available to anyone who speaks a language other than English and Chinese (Han): translators and reviewers. The job of translators is obvious, but before their translation can go into the app, it needs to be independently quality controlled by someone - that's where reviewers come in. If you're interested in either of these roles, fantastic! We're taking volunteers right now!

If you want to volunteer, please go to our translation portal (https://translation.botc.app/) and sign up for an account. Then, send an email to support@botc.app with the subject "Volunteer Translation" containing the language(s) you want to help with, how fluent you are in those languages, your username or email address used to sign up, your BOTC.app ID (if you have one), and if you have a preference on whether you'd rather translate or review translations and we'll send you more details on how to get started. This may be a bit of a slow process initially as we process a large number of volunteers, but we'll get you in.

Right now the app contains around 1850 strings. About half of this is game content (characters, rules, definitions and so on) and the other half is the app's interface. In most languages, all of this will need to be translated. However, for several languages where we already have official translations or they're in the works, we won't need to translate the game content, so the job will be a bit smaller. These languages are Chinese (Han), Czech, French, German, Hungarian, Korean, Portuguese (BR), Russian, and Spanish. On top of that, we've already got translations of the app's interface in Chinese and German done by TPI and our partners, so those languages don't currently require any additional input. As things stand, all future updates will accept German community translations, so German speakers should still feel free to volunteer - we just don't have anything for you to translate right now.

As we continue to release more game content for Clocktower and develop the app we will continuously need to update our translations, and there's always room for improvement, so we'll need volunteers going forward. We'll also be accepting translations for the new Script Tool as soon as that's released, so keep an eye out for that!

We'll also (hopefully soon!) have a cool, exclusive, in-app cosmetic to say thanks to those of you who helped us to bring Clocktower to a wider audience. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask here or send us an email!

If you still need help with translating and proofreading Czech language, feel free to reach me. I am native Czech and have physical copy of game now, so I can double check if suggested translations are compatible with physical version.

Absolutely, we're happy to add any and all languages that you want to translate the app / game into! Just follow the instructions from the above post.

Can we add another language to the list if we are willing to undertake it? If so, who should we contact about this?

Amir Rahmati

I came to question this as well. This isn't a community app. This is the official PAID app developed by the creators of the game. If the app was free I would be pretty understanding. But this makes no sense at all. edit: A unique cosmetic is nice. But 1850 strings is a ton of work. Wild to not pay for this.

Kevin Campbell

Volunteer? Why aren't you paying? That's disgraceful.
