MT Chapter 12

Days turned to weeks as nothing like that happened again. Aki seemed even more clingy than normal, often making me and her late to work as we had morning sex. The same way she improved at alchemy I did with enchanting. If the previous me put in fifty percent I put in one hundred often outpacing my teacher by almost double at some points.

I was paying off over a silver a day towards what I owed. I was making enough money to start buying luxuries for the house. After buying another two changes in clothes for me and Aki I had two sets of equipment made for when we started adventuring. Both were a bit on the expensive side but would be needed if we challenged anything stronger than goblins. I started training my cloth armor skill finally after it was made, having Aki beat me with a stick until I needed healing before continuing.

Reading became important to me as well. The village didn’t have any books on what classes or skills there are, most people didn’t try to min/max their builds just happy with what they received over time. I’d have to go to a bigger village or pay someone to find it for me, which I might do once I had the money. Learning more about the world through books was enough.

After proving myself as a completely different type of person than I used to be, did the enchanter give me my choice towards what type of enchanting subclass I wanted to learn. For most skills, gaining subskills was almost random but with the profession skills there were some ways to determine what you would get. Being taught or reading certain books would let you learn a subskill and I had a choice between two. Rune engraving or glyph setting.

Learning rune engraving would allow you to increase the odds of an effect happening or increase the effects of an enchant. I knew that I could do more as it leveled but the main difference was it took time to engrave each rune. It would guarantee better quality enchants at the cost of something that might take a day to make suddenly taking a week or longer.

Glyph setting was the opposite. It allowed me to make subpar enchants that would save materials and time. Glyphs also allowed you to make scrolls that could use a known spell by someone without that type of magic. That would be the main reason for me getting it over the more picked rune engraving.

It was still a fairly difficult decision. Enchanter was a rare enough skill that choosing the wrong subskill could cripple my future progression. That’s what I thought about right now. Glyph setting was better in the short term but rune engraving was better in the long term. That would make rune engraving seem like the best choice but that’s not taking into account dungeons.

While yes, rune engraving would do better in the short term for dungeons as you could enter better equipped over the course of encounters the glyph setting I could do between fights would keep my mana from maxing out. It would let me use more spells every fight and never let my mana sit completely full and useless and allow others the ability to use my healing spells in case I was knocked unconscious.

It would make it so I didn’t need healing potions but with Aki being an alchemist that didn’t matter much. At the end of the day it came to the uniqueness of the choice. Almost ninety percent of enchanters would pick rune engraving because it was the safe bet that guaranteed increased money while it isn’t even known what high level glyph setters could do.

Something drew me to glyph setting more than rune engraving and that was the ability to ward areas. Warding was a hidden skill glyph setters would get but the level of difficulty and time to learn made it all but impossible for everyone who wasn’t solely focused on learning it. Because it was a hidden skill it couldn’t be leveled and people had to learn how to do it the old fashioned way.

Because of the way the world worked most people wouldn’t focus on anything that they couldn’t actively level. Even though every glyph setter could learn how to ward it meant the already less chosen subskill had an even more niche hidden skill almost no one used. The only skilled warders could make insane money warding buildings and the royal family kept a warder on staff specifically for their ability to protect areas.

The hidden warding skill gave glyph setting the advantage and that’s the one I selected. It took another three days to explain to my teacher that I wasn’t doing it on some whim either. He blew dust off an old warding book he happened to have when he was selecting his subskill. He said a few minutes of reading and I’d know better than to bother. It took me a week to finish the book and another to fully comprehend it, intellect and previous world knowledge pulled overtime on me understanding how it worked.

The main reason people wouldn’t understand it is it had to deal heavily with math. It gave someone who lived in a world where math was far more important a huge advantage and a head start on becoming the best warder on the planet. As excited as I was to properly learn warding I still needed to learn the subskill before I could even try to make a ward.

Once again I had to convince him to let me learn the “subpar skill” for enchanting even though having two different subskills for enchanting meant we would both have specialized work effectively making it so even with two enchanters neither could fully replace the other. I would never be able to do runes putting my enchants at a lower level but he couldn’t make the usable scrolls or wards that I would be able to make.

It was another three weeks before I realized how badly I fucked up. Glyph setting was very easy to pick up and I slowly started to amass a collection of spell scrolls. Warding however was dramatically different from how I imagined it in the first place. It was substantially more difficult to learn than I previously thought it would be. The book let me make a very basic version of a ward but I knew it was missing several other layers of knowledge to get it to work fully.

I could make a detection ward or a strengthening ward and that was it and both those were only two dimensional. Changing from two dimensions to three was beyond what I could do and I was throwing myself against the problem to try and solve it with tenacity. There were two huge problems I needed to solve before I could start working on the smaller ones and refining my wards.

The first was I was missing a huge chunk of knowledge. The warding book barely delved into the topic and it was more theoretical knowledge and even perhaps false information to ruin someone's ability to actually make wards. Going through and testing every theory was costly which brought me to the next problem. Every test costs money. The most costly was when I forgot to set any parameters on the ward effectively making the mana I supplied burn up all the expensive reagents in seconds.

I couldn’t even try to brute force learn anything like I did with spell alteration. I just didn’t know enough to even start to try and push against the boundaries. Every day I grew closer and closer to understanding it but there was just too much information still missing. I was in the middle of completely scrapping a ward when Aki pulled up a chair next to me and sat down.

This immediately put me on guard because what I was doing was very boring. There was little chance she actually wanted anything to do with what I was doing and to get my attention I thought she might try to smash the items. As I turned to face her my nose almost pierced her vagina as she didn’t sit down on the chair but instead stood on it and pushed her vagina towards my face. It catches me so off guard I can’t help but let out a laugh. I guess I have been neglecting my nympho more than normal from trying to learn this.

She was just on the verge of needing another bath which she had grown at least to tolerate giving her a tangy smell. I give her pussy a tentative lick and she takes that as the go ahead to slam her pussy into my face. Thank fuck goblins didn’t have harry vaginas, it would be a herculean task to shave her if I had to. The sudden motion still almost knocked me out of my seat before I caught myself.

I dug in the best I could but her constant movements and bouncing up and down trying to grind into my tongue made it very difficult. I picked her up and turned her over letting her legs rest on my shoulders as I licked her flowing juices. I was backed up as well from overwork and needed it almost as bad as her. Trying to lay her carefully down on the table I was working at after sweeping most of the ingredients aside I slam into her in one quick thrust.

Slowly but surely I had been closing the stat gap between me and her. I hadn’t neglected my physical training with all my stats close to reaching one hundred. That would put me close to that of an average human, at least before you brought in skills to the equation. The sickly young boy I was died, and in his place a sex god was born. I laughed at my childish thoughts as I hammered into her with enough force to move her body with each thrust.

In between her jiggling breasts is the stuffed dog I made for her. If she finished work early and beat me home she’d come home and start getting into stuff out of boredom. To keep her from tearing the house up I made a toy made out of one of my old shirts for her to play with. Now when she came home she’d lay in bed and sniff the toy for ten or twenty minutes giving me enough time to make it home without her destroying the stove or cold box trying to get food.

She behaves like an adult, child and dog sometimes. At least she stopped making weird noises when we had sex. It was an odd thing to have the guards show up because they thought we were fighting animals inside the first time we had loud sex after moving back in. She grunted as I fucked her hard and moaned loudly forcing me to put my fingers in her mouth to keep her from making too much noise.

With a powerful thrust I finish inside her as she lets go of the doll and hugs onto me tightly pulling me down on top of her. She wraps her legs around me and pulls me into a kiss and I reciprocate. We lay like that for a few minutes, just me inside her while we kiss. Many of the carefully prepared and expensive materials strewn across the table. I break apart from her and catch my breath as I head to get us some water.

She sits up and her doll rolls down her chest and into our love juices. The moment it makes contact it explodes launching her against the wall. She screams in fear more than pain at the situation and I almost drop the pitcher and cups from flinching. Just as I close the distance to make sure she’s fine, information floods into my brain. It let me know what exactly just happened.

I made a hearth guardian without even knowing how and because it was so sub optimally designed it exploded any stored mana in the warding scheme. It essentially made an ineffective mana bomb. If I wanted to make an actual hearth guardian I would need stronger materials and a better offering than love juices. Through a complete and freak accident I gained wyrding wards which was a witch related skill.

Skill gained!

(Gain ten levels and an upgraded subskill as you are the first human to have the skill.)

Wyrding wards 10- Allows the creation of specialized defensive wards and other methods of protections. Wyrding wards is the witch equivalent of the formation array skill.

Wyrding way- As the first of your kind to learn this skill gain instinctive knowledge, rapidly improve in levels and have the same advantages a master of the skill would have.

Now… I didn’t know a lot about being a master but I knew a few things. If a master taught anyone who could possibly learn the skill would be able to gain the skill and anyone who had the skill would gain levels rapidly by the masters teaching. I also knew masters could create and gain an extra subskill. The subskill was equivalent to treating me like a level ninety in the skill.

For most skills it was fairly quick to rapidly level up to thirty. From thirty to forty unless you were specifically grinding that skill it could take months and it only got harder after that. Being able to create my own subskill also gave me more play with the skill than any other I had. As Aki brought the pieces of the exploded doll to me making pained noises with tears in her eyes I knew what I had to do. I had to remake this doll then I had to really begin to grind the skill.
