RiaN Chapter 16

Madara had only demolished two houses before the retaliation started. Not just one or two, but four other susanoo formed, all much smaller than his but all counterattacked at the same time. A sword pierced his back, almost reaching Madara as an arrow pierced the susanoo’s face, a small amaterasu fire struck his foot, and a large windmill shuriken struck his chest.

Only those with mangekyo eyes would have noticed all the microactions Madara did to avoid any permanent damage. A part of his wood armor moved to deflect the sword from striking true while the wood armor set on fire ejected itself from the chakra construct. The arrow that pierced his head would have dealt no damage, so it was left to fly true. Finally, the shuriken that could have pierced his actual body was left to strike as well. It was a windmill shuriken for the susanoo it came from, but the size difference made it look like a normal shuriken to Madara’s oversized susanoo.

With expert precision Madara fought the outnumbered battle, enjoying the situation wholly as he did so. Without his susanoo turning around, one of the hands holding a kanabou swung, smashing the susanoo behind him. The force behind the attack didn’t reach the man inside, but it was enough to launch the man and the susanoo away from himself.

He chuckled before speaking in that soft tone that everyone could hear. “Let’s dance!” Fugaku had begun to recover from the blow, but the larger susanoo moved almost fast enough that their eyes couldn’t detect it. Madara was overtop of him, swinging down with four different weapons. It would have been enough to kill him, but a large slug slammed into his side, knocking him away.

Before he could get his bearings from the sneak attack, he was struck in the side again, his body contorting in the susanoo from the sudden force as a large toad smashed him with his own two-handed kanabou. Once again, while he reeled from the last attack, he was struck again by an equally large snake. Fangs pierced the chakra construct before firing out chakra-distrupting poison.

Madara wasn’t upset; no, he enjoyed the thrill of battle. He just realized that Konoha wasn’t the unguarded, weak village he thought it was. A large-scale fight took place as the larger group slowly whittled down his susanoo, damage over time slowly making it smaller and smaller while the group just barely kept themselves from having any casualties until an attack finally landed on Madara's body. In the next moment, the body puffed into smoke as the susanoo started to dissipate. They had only been fighting a shadow clone.

Back in the hidden rain village, a young man opened his eyes. It was only for a brief moment, but the look of surprise could be seen on his face. He couldn’t help but laugh as he spoke to himself. “It would have been boring if it was easy.”

I felt it as my arm developed goosebumps as my chakra sense picked up on an attack larger than any I’d ever seen before. I moved on instinct as I got my barrier between myself and the feeling before the world around me exploded. The barrier went from twenty-five percent all the way up to ninety from soaking the concussive blast from the tailed beast bomb.

If I took the tailed beast bomb head on, I don’t think my barrier would last, and I didn’t want to see what would happen if it broke. There was a clear line of debris that stopped at my barrier, and I’d have been severely injured if not killed outright, if I took the brunt of that attack with no defenses up. Dozens of less lucky people and some more lucky ones looked on at the clear delineation of damage that had just occurred.

I was worried about the attack. Was it Naruto or Kushina that was going nuts? I ran toward the combat instead of away from it.

The feral monster rushed at the group of Uzumaki before a tailed beast ball formed in front of them. Before it could fully channel it, an adamantine chain came down, setting it off early, right in front of the tailed beast. The human no longer looked human; the chakra oozing from him was so thick it looked solid and began to take on more of a form of the jinchuriki he housed.

Kushina landed; she was the one who stopped the attack from killing hundreds of her fellow clansmen. The clan had lost almost every member who could use the adamantine chains, there were only a dozen who could use more than two now. Most adamantine chain users died in the attack on the whirlpool village because they were the main defenders of the village, so they had the most casualties.

It meant that Kushina had the most expertise in using the adamantine chains. She swung two of them in her hands as they came out of her chest, waiting for an opportunity to bind the tailed beast. Gin was on the opposite end of the city when the attack went off, he was now at the battlefield with his eyepatch off and blood-red executioner's blade in hand.

Behind the eye patch was a special eye that helped him control blood from the Chinoike clan. He had gained many names from his time as a shinobi: Bloody Eye Gin, the human jinchuriki, one-man army Gin, and Blood Blade Gin. He swung at the jinchuriki; the blade itself wasn’t the attack, but a blood blade fired from it right towards the jinchuriki.

Only the feral instinct of the jinchuriki alerted it to the blow that would have ruined it. The chakra contained in the blood blade was more than most shinobi had in their entire body. If any blood touched him, it would begin to expand, turning Nagato into an unwilling bomb as he would burst from the sudden expansion. The jinchuriki managed to dodge, but it left it open to a counterattack. Kushina went to take advantage of that before two arrows suddenly appeared in the jinchuriki.

The sheer speed they were fired left no chance for the creature to dodge as it slowly pushed the person-sized arrows from its body. It wasn’t a fair fight, as it shouldn’t be. These people were terrorists, they had only shown up to deal as much damage as they could to the village before fleeing. If the village fought them fairly, they’d be doing a disservice to their own village.

The tailed beast fled away from the group as it tried to recover. The person inside the tailed beast was still healing from the damage the arrows had done. It fled right into the path of a child who had decided to run towards the danger instead of away from it. Instinctively, it moved to destroy the kid; little did it know that was a gigantic mistake.
