RiaN Chapter 17

I saw the jinchuriki, but it was moving too fast for me to do anything about it except raise my eyebrows in shock. I could move fast for my age, but that didn’t mean I could compete against a full-fledged ninja, and the jinchuriki moved even faster than that. I could only get my hands up in an attempt to block the attack as it lunged at me. The moment my body came into contact with the tailed beast chakra, I entered the person's soul space.

I felt a similar feeling to what I had with Kushina and Naruto, that I could help fix this jinchuriki. It contained so much malice toward people, especially toward its current vessel. I had done my best to fix the nine tails in both Kushina and Naruto. For this, I felt no inclination to not attempt something far riskier to the person and jinchuriki that attacked me.

I was going to try to rip the seven tails out of the person who attacked the village. The seven tails knew it instinctively. Even now, the nine tails would attempt to fight me, and even after dozens of corrections, the seven tails made no attempt as they tried to run away. It could run away indefinitely if it controlled this soul space, but it didn’t. I continuously shrank the area(something I didn’t know I could do because I never attempted it with Naruto or Kushina) as I realized I had some control over the soul space.

It was a losing battle; every moment brought him closer, every moment made it less likely he would escape. I touched it and felt it start to shift, I tried to pull it out completely. I wasn’t sure if it would end up in me or outside in the village, but it was far more of a threat inside an enemy of the village than anywhere else. If Madara's end goal is still to recreate the ten tails, this person will die anyway, and with another jinchuriki in the village, it will be much harder to finish.

I pulled and pulled and pulled and pulled. It was like I was trying to move a mountain as I kept pulling. The tugging sensation was suddenly easier as I could feel the solidified chakra that was the tailed beast start to rip. The jinchuriki was almost ripped in half, with forty percent coming with me and sixty percent staying behind. In the next moment, I was back in my own body as it was struck by the still-moving person that was the jinchuriki.

He was unconscious but moving at a speed where his body was a weapon as we slammed together, and I felt my bones break. He moved so fast I couldn’t get the barrier up between us, and the sudden shifting into the soul space and out of it left me disoriented enough to not defend myself. I could only make out the mop of raggedy red hair before a white hand reached over and pulled him into the ground.

I couldn’t help but yell out. “Holy fuck, that’s creepy as hell.” Then I felt all the sudden wounds on my body; every injury I had just received started to heal as my body felt like it was on fire. Before I could fully understand what was happening, I passed out.

A man was strapped down to a table as they were about to wake him from his unconsciousness. He was one of the invaders, and they were going to get information on them. The lead torturer left for only a moment to get his tools as a man floated out of the floor before grabbing the unconscious man and pulling him down with him.

He would have had a tracker or poison placed in his body, meaning that even if he did escape, he’d die or be easily recaptured. But the girl who brought him in was too distracted by reading her newest manga to follow the normal protocol of the Ryuchi clan.

Tsumi’s Point of View

I felt overwhelmed. This was the first large-scale attack to happen in Konoha since the Isobu, the three-tailed beast, attacked decades ago. Thankfully, the casualties were kept to a minimum, or I’d be pulling my hair out with all the paperwork that would need to be done. It was all just a big annoying hassle. I was one of the only people in my family with any political acumen at all, and as the head of the Konoha clan council, or KCC for short, it fell on me to handle the bulk of the paperwork this accident caused.

I thought about calling in my Mom, Tsunade, to see if she could do anything to help with this situation, but ever since Dad died, she’s been extremely depressed. She barely ever leaves the house, and the few times I’ve seen her since then, she’s always been drunk. Shizune came running over to me. “It’s bad! The shinobi we had in captivity escaped!” I just sighed as I knew this was going to be another issue my rivals would use to discredit me and attempt to steal my position.

This was such a hassle, maybe I will visit Mom and drink with her.

“What do you mean he’s fine? He’s an entire foot taller than he was earlier today.” Gin yelled at Kushina, who was checking Tama’s vitals. His clothes looked to be two or three sizes too small now as his body had grown in moments, making it hard for him to breathe. Kushina ripped his shirt open as she explained further to Gin. “Yes, he’s more than fine. He appears to be stronger now than he was earlier today.”

Everyone waited for her to explain her thought process. “Tama… Has been helping Naruto and me convert the energy in our tailed beasts so that they aren’t so imbalanced. It’s the reason I’m alive and the reason Naruto can use yin chakra. I could tell he was siphoning off some of the energy, I didn’t know what he was until this other jinchuriki touched him.”

She finished the analysis jutsu before standing up and brushing off her knees. “He’s a perfect vessel… We should move out of the streets, and I’ll explain more without all these eyes on us.” Gin picked his son up, and they moved to his home, which had avoided most of the damage. One of the outside walls had been destroyed, but compared to the buildings halfway demolished nearby, they had gotten lucky.

As they got comfortable, Kushina started to explain what was happening. “There are a few reasons we seal the beasts inside people. One is for power. A jinchuriki is a war resource and can turn a mediocre ninja into one of the village's strongest shinobi. The second reason is to remove a walking natural disaster off the board. The tailed beasts cause damage wherever they go. It’s not really their fault but just a happenstance of their situation; they’re too big for their own good.”

She took a sip of the tea before exclaiming. “Mmm, this is delicious! You’ll have to give me some of the tea leaves, so the third reason is to offset the corrupting nature of the tailed beasts' chakra.”
