For a while there I kept seeing isometric art on my social media accounts; isometric art is essentially a type of drawing that makes 2D figures and scenes appear 3D. Think of those perspective challenges you may have done in art class years ago where you had the horizon lines and had to draw buildings that had a 3D look to them. Yup, that's isometric art.
In particular, I kept seeing these things called room cubes. People would design rooms of all kinds via isometric art, particularly for their OCs and especially with a pixel art feel.
I couldn't tell you exactly what got me invested in trying it out for myself. Curiosity, maybe? In general I've been trying to experiment more often lately when it comes to art, and so I gave room cubes a try. Two of them, actually! I initially wanted to do color....but then I decided to do grayscale because I had something much more interesting in mind, details are given later.
These room cubes were designed with two specific characters in mind, two of my own OCs as it turns out: Una Tanako and Kiko Haliaka. They are the protagonists for my story called Sync, and this is one of the few stories where I have 2 female protagonists. And I feel like you can understand their personalities a lot just from their rooms.

Anyways, the details about my much more interesting idea in mind. Isometric art is something I was glad to be able to try for official concept art. But I also mentioned that a lot of isometric drawings are pixelated. My plan is to take these traditional drawings, and move them straight into my Krita drawing program where I not only pixelate it, but give it color as well! This will be a entirely new experiment that I don't even think I've ever attempted before, but I am hella curious to give it a try because I think the result could be pretty cool. Reminds me of the game Unpacking, which my sister and I have played a little already; I'm almost hoping to create some digital art pieces with that sort of effect.
Wish me luck! Let me know if this is something you want me to potentially livestream with Patreon!
