Moving has been busy but it has not deterred me from working on some occasional art projects, including what I consider to be an important side project. As stated in a previous post I have thought long and hard about each of these cards and the individuals associated with them. I have already covered Laruk's card and my reasoning for making her the centerpiece for the Moon card. Now let me talk a little about Diala and Nylin's cards.
Diala's was actually a bit tricky to figure out, but eventually I concluded that the Chariot card would be the best fit for her character. Based on research one of the card's orientations denotes control, willpower, direction, success, and action; meanwhile the other orientation denotes a lack of direction and control, opposition, and self-discipline. Competition may occur and one's strength or confidence may be tested, but one can achieve their goals so long as they have focus, willpower, determination, and rely on their own discipline.
Diala exudes a great deal of willpower to succeed as the pack's beta. She believes herself and the pack very strong, even if she herself comes off as a little too strong personality-wise. She does not take well to outsiders as she feels they lack control and discipline, and she will not easily be swayed out of that opinion {if it wasn't yet obvious in the comic thus far}.
Nylin's card took a little bit to draft out the pose, as I wanted to figure out something similar with most of the interpretations of the Empress card that I had looked at, but at last I came up with something I am quite happy with. One of the orientations of the Empress denotes femininity and fertility as well as nurturing and abundance. The other, however, suggests emptiness, smothering, and a dependence on others.
The character Nylin is just as important to the story as Diala is. Her nurturing and motherly side is very strong compared to most in the pack, her calm and elegant demeanor is unmatched, and her search for happiness in life is a major aspect of her character.
Both of these characters are very important to the story for their own reasons, and their connections to the cards they represent is not to be overstated.

Also check out this sneak preview of the next two cards I put together for the deck! If you cannot tell they're Seldrad and Idredo, the male alpha and beta of the pack! The former's card may not be very surprising, but the latter is paired with an interesting choice for what I think are interesting reasons!
