Initially I thought I could contribute a little to this particular episode; I definitely had something of a pirate phase in my youth where I was fascinating to no end with pirate history and culture and timelines and names. Even considering Pirates of the Caribbean and Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, I thought I could make out any references or jabs at either franchise or at the very least compare them to the episode.
Buuuuut no, the episode more centered on references specific events that I had never even heard of, so alas, I did not feel that most of my pirate knowledge and commentary would be worth contributing to this episode.
That said, it was still fun in it's own way. And crazy. Legitimately, HOW many cults or crazy fan clubs has Cartman led up to this point? His charisma and uncaringness of others let's him do it so easily, but still. The kids and adults both in this show are absolutely dumb, it's hysterical and tragic at the same time.

But you figured it out. π I always thought it is hilarious how those kids associate and romanticize pirates with classic caribbean pirates from movies and books, but present day reality hits hard.

2023-11-21 08:42:24 +0000 UTCI remember around this episode my friends stopped watching South Park and I don't know why. (For timeline context it came out graduation year of Highschool so that might have been a factor) I think SP was still going pretty strong.
