I Finally Reviewed CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Season 1 Episode 7!

August 13th: Now available to view for all paid and free members!

I've been wanting to do this for a while!

To start off, I had only ever watched one episode previously of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and the intent was to divide that into parts. Well, that didn't entirely work.

Turns out watching even a single episode of CSI had so many flaws and exaggerations that it became more of a chore to analyze just one full episode. That said, I knew I still wanted to watch CSI and review it as a forensic science major. But I couldn't just watch the entire episode.

So instead, I shifted focus to dissecting only certain aspects of an episode. And for this particular episode, it was a no-brainer. Not only is Season 1 Episode 7: Blood Drops highly rated, but it also delves a lot into a particular subfield of forensics that I am hugely fascinated by. Bloodspatter and bloodstain analysis is one of my favorite studies within the forensic science field, and with an episode name like Blood Drops it only makes sense that the biggest focus would be on blood.

Clips from this episode presented in the video primarily focus on the photographing of bloodstains, the collection of blood evidence, and the subsequent analysis of the resulting patterns and crime scene. And I must say, despite my absolute hatred of CSI, this episode wasn't too bad. It was not nearly as overexaggerated as so many other episodes tend to be, though there still were some moments of exaggeration or inaccuracy. I was definitely surprised, though not quite impressed, by what the show had to present regarding bloodstains and blood evidence.

What did they get right, and what did they get wrong? Guess you'll have to watch to find out!
