I built an e-bike with unlimited range and tried to ride 450 miles on it...

There is so much that didn't make it into this video, from all the people who helped me to the many more challenges I faced (camping, in a field, through some of the brightest lightning and loudest thunder I had ever seen and heard, for example). But the biggest thing I am taking away from this video is to make sure that, at least once a year, I create a video that takes me outside my comfort zone.

This bike trip tested me on so many levels. I had never done a multi-day bike trip, I had never applied solar technology to my life, and I had never created a video about any of that. Every step was a learning process. But now I know a whole hell of a lot about all of the above, and I'm better for it.

What became abundantly clear from the very beginning, though, when Brendan reached out to me and wanted to help, was that other people were what was going to make this possible.

Brendan built the trailer. Reddit educated me about choosing the right bike gear. My bike friends told me over and over again to keepπŸ‘eating. My family endlessly checked in and made me feel oh so supported (thank you, Mom, Sam, Chris, Joe, Mandy, Christopher <3). Hannah's mom, Jane, guided me out of NYC to avoid all the bad roads. SO MANY strangers stopped to give me help, directions, or information about upcoming trails. And of course, Hannah put up with me talking about this for months, hugged me like I was going to war when I left, and received some of the most unhidged, absolutely defeated voice memos with grace and love. And you, bud, have been with me every step of the way, leaving amazing comments that kept me going.

It really does take a village. So, thank you.

Congratulations!! I spent the first half of the video saying β€˜why doesn’t she just charge from a plug at night?’ but by the end, I saw that you discipline paid big rewards. I hope this experiment changes the way people think about e-bikes. Regen braking would be amazing. Maybe there is a way to integrate solar into the wheels or a backpack that would help them go farther. Also it would be great to be able to charge e-bike batteries using DC current. There’s no way that plugging a DC battery into a DC power bank using an AC inverter is efficient. Well done!

What an enormous achievement, and one of the best videos you've ever made πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

This actually brought tears of joy as I watched you recover from doubt and anxiety, into joy and peace. Great video Becca!

So cool!! This video was great! How much power assistance did you end up getting from the bike? It looked like you were putting in a lot of effort on hills.
