Are there any surprising or unexpected jobs for someone with a degree in entomology?

2019-03-31 14:45:05 +0000 UTCI've always wondered how insects are adapting to cities and man-made environments. Are there new types of insects that are appearing that thrive in attics and sewers and garbage dumps?

2019-03-28 03:34:04 +0000 UTCI'd love to hear your thoughts on dealing with invasive insect species. Here in Southeast Michigan, we have seen an explosion of Brown Marmorated Stinkbugs in the last few years. They may be my arch nemesis! I've read about using the Samurai wasp to deal with them. Is that a good idea?

2019-03-13 04:24:23 +0000 UTCWe have bugs from around the world displayed in our house. They are framed and look cool. Why don't they biodegrade or start to smell? This could be for any taxidermy animal too. Thank you.

2019-03-08 21:41:22 +0000 UTC- What's the most significant impacts of climate change on (various) arthropod populations, and what do you expect the aftermath to look like? - When did you realize you wanted to be an entomologist and how hard was it to become one? What's your favorite thing to do as an entomologist? Used to want to grow up to be an entomologist, until I realized just how niche the profession is. Still like to entertain the thought sometimes :)

2019-03-08 20:52:33 +0000 UTCI'm fascinated by insects that 'sing'. What's the latest and greatest findings about these tiny musicians?

2019-03-08 20:42:50 +0000 UTCI hear that insect populations are crashing. What can we do to help support them in our day-to-day living and are there any insect-friendly alterations those of us with some land can make? This one may be more for an Eons episode: We all have a general understanding of when and how vertebrates came ashore and became terrestrial, but arthopods and other invertebrates beat us to land by at least a whole period. What did that transition look like?
