Gold and diamond patrons had a vote a little while ago about what I should do for my next big project - the choice was between an overhaul of (some) nameless NPCs and an update to my Dawnguard overhaul. The nameless NPCs won by quite a lot, so I will start with that! I promise my Dawnguard overhaul will receive an update as well at some point, some of those NPCs are painful for me to look at :')
Because there are hundreds of nameless NPCs, I've decided to release them in packs and I decided to start with the ones called Hags and Witches because it sounds fun.
How nameless NPCs work is different from named NPCs, they use a certain amount of NPC templates that the game spawns characters from. This mod will contain 30 NPCs/templates that will be used for most hags and witches that will spawn in the game. The tricky part about this though, I can't make each template stand out too much - because then it will be more obvious when you see the same template NPC spawn more than once in your game. It will take you out of the immersion when you see an NPC and go "hey I killed this one before" - so I will try to avoid that, while also attempt to make each template relatively unique. At the same time, I will try to not spend too much time on each face, because at the end of the day they're enemy NPCs and likely won't be looked at a whole lot. In the case of the nameless NPCs, I will prioritize quantity over quality - to some degree.
I am currently at 16/30 templates "done" (none of them are DONE done, I do the final tweaking at the end when I have made all 30) and you can see 4 of them in the picture above. All are WIPs of course, but the final product won't be too different.
