I'm Making Some Changes

Like the title says, I'm making some changes.

Here's the tl;dr...

That's it, the short (ish) version.

Now for the longer explanation...

I'm burned out, and it's taken me a while to a) realize it, and b) admit it. Worse, burnout is one of those things like depression, where you blame yourself and think it's a lack of willpower, motivation, or whatever.

But if you've ever dealt with depression, or you know someone who has, you know it isn't something you can "fix" with the right attitude. I mean, "don't worry, be happy" isn't a cure for depression. Same with burnout. "Just do it" is another catchy phrase that doesn't help, especially for anyone who's a creative type (me, duh).

So... what am I going to do?

Well, first I need to give myself permission not to write. That doesn't mean "don't work." It just means that I don't want to write right now, and that's okay. This has happened before, and I  recovered just fine (eventually).

Next, I need to find a way to keep working, and that's where you can help. I'm going to turn my Patreon into a more traditional "support my work" membership, rather than "buy the first edition of my books."

I still want to post updates, teases, anecdotes, and other fun stuff, but right now I'm struggling. I also have plenty of story ideas, but I don't want to write them. Not yet, at least.

I've been talking with Big Ed and Adriel, my virtual assistant, and they're going to help. Big Ed has already published the first edition of the Summer Camp Gazette, complete with pics of the new Susan model and an explanation of why I changed her. Adriel will start handling some of my routine email and other chores.

For now, you can change your membership to the Early Admission or VIP level. I won't be posting Staff updates, although you can stay at that level if you want to keep access to older posts.

You can also think kind thoughts. I could use the positive energy.

Last but not least, I want to thank you, especially if you're still here, still reading this. I've always enjoyed the SC community, and you're a huge part of that.

So, thanks again, and thanks for reading. As always.*
