Some sayings are COMPLETELY racist, but surprisingly (if you believe the internet), that’s not one of them. It’s just an unfortunate coincidence, and loosely translates to “new spike.” That being said... still a great idea!

I was cleaning up my parental's home today and before I got started I promised to get the house cleaned up "Spick and Span." After I said it I started to wonder what the hell it meant. So I broke it down in my head and thought, "What's a spick and what's a span?" I stopped thinking about it right then and decided to ask you, Ralph. I think this one is going to be both educational and a great PSA about old sayings and the racist ass origins they likely come from. LMB!
