Any Garmy members recovered from COVID-19?
Added 2020-04-27 20:38:45 +0000 UTCAs mentioned on today's show, here's a note from Garmy member, Mike McAvoy:
I would like to hopefully get the word out a little more about a need that the Garmy can help with.
I'm a pharmaceutical process scientist for a large plasma therapy company (we normally make plasma-derived products like coagulation proteins to treat Hemophilia A and B, alpha-1 protease inhibitor to treat inherited emphysema, and a protein therapy for people living with hereditary angio edema).
A big part of our business is also flu vaccines and IgG therapies. I bring this up because our company has entered into an alliance with another plasma therapy company to help develop "CoVIg-19," an Ig therapy to help treat future patients of COVID-19.
I know the stress facing our medical field right now because my gf is a nurse on a dedicated COVID floor at a Chicago area hospital. I've heard the horror stories. I understand the science behind what we're gearing up to try and make. But we need donors.
If any Garmy members have survived COVID-19, they are uniquely positioned to help us develop this therapy. All the information they need to get started as a plasma donor is at the link below:

Thank you Mike and your fellow workers for all you do. My wife has Hereditary Angioedema, and that medicine is literally a life saver. As such, we have luckily avoided Covid-19 so far, but I will definitely be passing this along.
