Satoko already explained her plan in the last episodes of Gou. You might have just forgotten or overlooked it since there was a lot to take in those last episodes.

I think Rina may have also acted different in this arc possibly because of changes in Teppai making her not involved with him but it’s just a theory because she is much different than in the visual novel so the change is probably related to the new satoko loops

in the 2nd episode... it is so fascinating that Rina is having more of a problem with her conscience (well, let's face it, she didn't have any trace of that problem before lol)... I reckon Rina had the same thing as Teppei, where she saw some fragments thanks to Satoko, and is trying to be better. But it doesn't matter because Rena is L5 and she's pretty much unstoppable even without that XD

I'm always surprised with Ryukishi's ability to redeem characters lol, never thought I'd feel bad for Rina. Although I like her redemption arc, because it's kinda realistic and keeps her in character. She isn't totally changed, she still takes advantage of people and has a manipulative personality, but she's also human and has empathy in some specific circumstances and she can see herself in Rena. I love the parallel between the 2 of them. Also side note but these episodes had some amazing attention to detail. If you rewatch the scene where Satoko is staring at the window after getting hit by the glove you'll notice her reflection has the red eyes. Also in the OP where Satoko is running by the river her reflection in the water is her child self. Lots of interesting details having to do with mirrors and reflections
