WELCOME To THE PACIFIC! Panama Canal MINI DOCO (Part 2 of 2) SV Delos Ep 371

Ahoy Tribe! We proudly present part two of our trip through the Panama canal! This was such an incredible milestone for us, and felt like a real part of Delos history.  We are so stoked to share our experience with you on this one!

We just arrived in Zihuatanejo on Wednesday, and after checking the weather again saw that there is another system moving in, so we’re hightailing it outta here today and making some miles north out of its path.  Mother nature is definitely letting us know we lingered a little bit too long and it’s time to get Delos past the very exposed coast line of southern Mexico and up closer to some protected anchorages and marinas, and eventually out of the hurricane zone completely.  Anywho, it’s time to pull the anchor right now, we will keep you all updated with our progress!   The good news is we are back in Satellite zone and were able to upload this video while at sea :)  Lots of love and big hugs from the whole gang! Brian, Kazza, Sierra, & Jordan

Imagine being woken up by Howler Monkeys in the middle of a man-made lake in the Panama Canal, then going for a swim in the crocodile infested waters!  In part 1 of our Panama Canal mini-series we learned how the incredible locking system raises gigantic ships, and small sailboats, to 85 feet above sea level.  In this video we transit Lake Gatun, a manmade mega-lake created by damn that is an engineering feet in and of itself.  We investigate the decision behind creating Lake Gatun, the immense proportions of the damn that holds back the Chagres River, and the incredibly challenge of the Culebra Cut which claimed the lives of so many.  At the end of the day we successfully traverse the locks back down to sea-level and end up in THE PACIFIC Ocean!  PS- If you'd like to watch directly in YT the link is https://youtu.be/m7w36wF8V7o
