UNFILTERED: A Day In The Life On The Open Ocean (Pacific Crossing Pt. 3 of 8) S.V. Delos Ep. 418

Ahoy friends!  Hope everyone is having a fabulous day.  Life is pretty over here on our end, we made it to the Tuamotu Islands, and holyyyyy cow is it incredible here!!!  If you picture a perfect tropical paradise in your head, this is it.  Tuamotus have about 80 islands/atolls, but it spans an incredible large area, in fact its largest chain of atolls in the world, and it extends (from northwest to southeast) over an area roughly the size of Western Europe.  We'll post a real time update soon and show you our latest backyard :)

But now for this week's video...this one is a GOODIE and we are super stoked to share it with you.  We wanted to show you what a 24 hour period actually looks like, and how the day flows.  We tried to include minimal music and more ambient sounds, with some longer drawn out moments to try and create a real picture of what it looks, feels, and sounds like to be onboard Delos in the middle of the open ocean.

Anyway, grab your morning coffee or your favorite frosty beverage, kick back, and prepare to be transported to our floating home!

Big hugs from all of us!

Brian, Kazza, & Sierra

You need a net to land the big fish! Too bad the big one got away.

Hey Michael, that's a great point. This sail was so long we went through 3.5 hours of time change in total. Yep, there is a .5 hour time zone change! We've always kept our watch schedule on local time of the port from which we left, which most of the time works unless you are doing a large sail across multiple zones. About 2/3 into the passage the sun was starting to set later and later and later so we ended up adjusting the clock during the day and setting it back 2.5 hours to match with Marquesas time, and then another 1 hours when we got to the Tuamotus. So it was pretty manageable and we did it during the day so there was some overlap on the watch schedule without shot-changing anyone out of sleep. Fair winds! Brian

Hey Arabella, ha yeah we've been giving this a lot of thought also. For a long time we've wanted to create a "home base" and Sweden would be a natural place. More to come.... :)

Thinking of your reflections on time, and wondering: when you are underway, do you switch clocks to Zulu (Greenwich) Time like Naval vessels do?

Michael Williams

That was awesome. Conner reminds me of a Labrador retriever; always enthusiastic, especially about food! Lol
